In 1876, an American inventor named Nicholas-Jacques Conte developed a way to use bullets that was more efficient and reliable. He created a cartridge that consisted of an explosive charge that was detonated when the bullet reached its target. This system became known as “Nickelback” bullets because they were made from nickel rather than lead or other metals which could easily corrode. Bullet popularity increased during World War I thanks to advances in ammunition technology and military effectiveness. Bullet wounds became more common as artillery shells fired at high speeds began ricocheting off objects near participating infantry soldiers. The development of modern medical care made bullet injuries less common, but they still occur occasionally today due to accidents or combat exposure.

The first lemon tree was planted in Lemon Grove in 1872. The city's name honors Mrs. Anna Linden, who donated five trees to the town in 1876. In 1912, President Woodrow Wilson delivered his speech "A New Era Begins" at Lemon Grove High School and later that year the high school became an affiliated with UC Berkeley. Lemon Grove was incorporated as a city on December 10, 1916. In 1974, it consolidated with neighboring Garden Grove to become one of Orange County's 27 cities officially designated by Governor Ronald Reagan as "governor-designate." On July 15th 2018 Mayor Darrell Steinberg announced they will be moving forward with annexation of neighbouring City of Fullerton
Lemon Grove is a small town in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 5,827 at the 2010 census. It is located just east of Downtown LA on Interstate 10 and has a Mediterranean climate. The Lemon Grove post office opened in 1887 and closed in 1966. The town was named after two lemon trees that grow near the original settlement. In 1927, the Lemon Grove Chamber of Commerce organized a lemonade stand to promote tourist attractions in the area. The first store in Lemon Grove was built by Mrs. Hildebrandt on Main Street in 1921 and sold groceries, candy, cigarettes and other items from a truck parked at the side of the road. In 1925, Mrs. Hildebrandt donated land for an emotional school for children with mental handicaps which became known as "Hildebrandt Park." In 1951, construction began on Donnybrook Elementary School which served students from kindergarten through eighth grade until it closed in 1999 because of budgetary cuts made by then-Governor Jerry Brown during his time as Governor of California. At that time, elementary schools were also being shuttered throughout California due to court rulings mandating that public funding be used to provide education instead of commercial enterprise such as prisons and hospitals). In 1957 an IMAX movie theater opened called Theaters des Cités which screened independent films before becoming part of Regal Cinemas chain later that year when Regal merged with AMC Entertainment Inc.. In 1964–1965 (the same year Donnybrook Elementary School reopened), Lemon Grove had its very first ice cream social attended by more than 1,000 people at the High Desert Motel where they sampled local flavors like sour cream chocolate cake etc.. From 1965-1968/1969-1970 there was only one store open; this store operated out of space inside Donnybrook Elementary School until it moved into its current location next door on State College Boulevard with additional parking available behind the school building). From 1971 onward all stores except one were relocated to new locations within or adjacent to their predecessor's buildings including: Donnybrook Mall (now known as Pacific Mall), Northridge Village Center (now Sunland Village), West Hollywood Plaza (now Hollywood Casino) and South Pasadena Place (later renamed Miracle Mile Plaza)). All but one store closure occurred due to fire – many thanks to Agnew’s No More Smoky Skies campaign which helped bring attention to these closures among others during his tenure as Mayor of Los Angeles). Lemon Grove is a small town in Kern County, California. The population was 2,624 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of the San Joaquin Valley and is east of Fresno. The first settlers in Lemon Grove were Spanish Californios who arrived in 1821, followed by American Missionaries in 1847. Lemon Grove was named for a lemon tree that grew near the original settler's home. The post office was established in 1852, and had a population of only 10 residents until 1861 when it became part of Big Sur. In 1907, Lemon Grove became part of Imperial County and its post office moved to Escondido also in 1907. In 1933, parts of Lemon Grove were annexed by Tulare County as part of the nearby community of East Tulare. In 1941, after World War II ended and Tulare County reverted to Mexican control, most Sections 8 (northwest corner) through 11 (southwest corner) were annexed by East Tulare which again changed its name to Lemon Grove on February 17th 1946 because there was no other town with that name within East Tulare limits at that time! On July 1st 1956 all sections except Section 8 reverted back to their respective former names! Lemon Grove has had several mayors since its incorporation as a village: George Crespo from 1949-1954; Randolph Wickersham from 1954-1957; Everett Wilkinson from 1957-1964; Vernon Davis from 1964-1967; Clifford Eames from 1967-1971; Don Haggerty from 1971-1974; John Sievington from 1974-1976; Leroy Kingman from 1976-1978; Rick Jarrellfrom 1978 until his retirement effective September 30th 1979 upon which date he succeeded him
