Marysville is a city located in Kern County, California, on the San Joaquin River. The population was 54,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno metropolitan area. Marysville was founded in 1847 by Captains George and William Brougham as a trading post on the San Joaquin River. The town name derived from an incident where two women, named Mary and Martha, were killed by Indians while crossing the river. The City of Marysville was incorporated on April 20, 1907. The site of present-day Marysville was first occupied by Native Americans who lived near where the city now stands. A mission called Mission Dolores was founded here in 1849 by Father José de Jesús Pacheco y Valdivia and served as a center for missions throughout California until it burned down in 1860. After Captain George Brougham’s death in 1847, his brother William took over command of Brougham’s Ferry Company which ferried goods between Stockton and Sacramento up the San Joaquin River. In 1850, when Captain James Folsom Cooke became Commandant of Fort Point at Stockton Bayou, he ordered William to move his company to that location because he thought there might be new land available upstream along the river for settlement purposes. On July 13th 1850Captain James Folsom Cooke walked upriver from Fort Point to what is now known as Marysville after hearing about it from traders living downstream at Tellico Lake (now known as Lodi). He found several small villages clustered around a trading post called Grosse Pointe which had been established by Frenchmen four years earlier under Hudson’s Bay Company leadership east of today’s Sacramento County; these French traders had named their outpost “Grosse Pointe du Lac” after one of their number – Jean-Baptiste Gros – who had discovered an area rich with gold nuggets near modern day Stockton (present day Milpitas). This event helped spur development within present day Kern County due to its proximity to valuable gold resources; Grosse Pointe soon became an important commercial center for those engaged in mining operations along both sides of the river system including corn milling and stage coach travel through this portion of California during what are now considered “golden age days” for mining activity across much of Northern California due to discoveries made during aquifers depletion issues associated with Mexican attempts at irrigation systems that encroached upon large areas currently including parts or allof Kern County…. By 1865 Grosse Pointe had become home to more than 150 people with 10 stores/houses; trade occurred mainly between residents & visitors from adjacent counties but also sold goods produced locally such as pork products etc.; many homes were still standing into early 1900…..During this time period there were numerous cultural events taking place such as dances given by local women & girls invitein' citizens&strangers alike………In 1870 Revd John Sutter arrived herefrom Hayward CO via Stage Coachloads full Of Gold Dusters And Arrived At Grosse Pointe To Start His Own Mining operation……Today we still enjoy some vestiges OF THAT GOLDEN AGE: A few old houses remain downtown today that were built priorto 1889 when most services moved out & replaced Presently there are 4 churches within walking distanceOf each other providing social services…………..So ends my little history lesson on one veryimportant community located close TO FRESNO CA…..around 55k people live here today making it 2ndlargest City In Fresno Metro Areabehind only East Palo Alto…………….Yes our beautiful Cities get bigger everyday but our beautiful towns stay small!

In 1849, Marysville was founded by James W. English and his wife Catharine. The town was named after the daughter of Englishman Robert Treat Pemberton, who had settled in the area in 1836. In 1850, English built a flour mill on the banks of the Sacramento River. By 1860, Marysville had a population of 350 people and an economy that included agriculture and manufacturing. The town's growth led to increased competition for jobs and housing; however, it remained an important community until the early 21st century. Marysville is located at 38° 54′ 29″ N., 122° 36′ 17″ W (38.767667,-122.404000). It occupies a small section of north-central Sacramento County along Interstate 5 between West Sacramento and916th Street (Rancho Cordova Road), making it one of only two towns in California with no incorporated county government other than ZIP code 85922 (the other is Grass Valley). According to the United States Census Bureau,Marysville has a total area of 2 square miles (5 km²), all land. The hills around Marysville are rich in soils that have been used for agriculture since before they were exposed to air or water: these soils produce crops such as cotton, rice, potatoes, onions, garlic, fruits etc., but also contain significant amounts of lime which makes them able to resist pests or disease while providing good soil structure for planting crops; this type of soil is also called natural loam because it occurs naturally wherever there is moisture present year-round without irrigation or manuring; this type of soil can be found throughout much of Northern California as well as parts of Nevada and Arizona As mentioned above Marysville experiences high winds from northerly wind directions particularly during winter months averaging over 50 mph (.83 m/sec) with gust speeds up to 100 mph (160 m/sec). This weather conditions make farming difficult especially if you are using any kind weather resistant equipment like generators etc.; some farmers go so far as to build windbreaks around their properties even if they don't have ToO protection insurance!
