Anna May may have also been inspired by her mother's move from Baltimore to Northern California when she was six years old. In 1868, Anna May met James Fenton while she was visiting her mother at the home of her sister-in-law Mrs. Atkins northeast of Sacramento. After their first meeting, AnnaMay fell head over heels for James Fenton and they began dating within weeks of each other. They married on December 16th of that year at the home of Mrs. Atkins with Judge John Wetherill officiating). James became an early settler in what is now Maywood due to his experience with irrigation systems being developed during the 1860s across North America via wagon trains led by Captain George Custer who explored the Great Plains between Missouri and Wyoming Territory before returning eastward via Independence Springs route which crossed through what is now Fresno County on its way north into Kings Canyon National Park; these wagon trains were filled with men, women and children fleeing various aspects of American Civil War as well as Native American hostilities leading up to it such asraid parties etc., including most likely Anna May who would later become one of history's foremost pioneers not only because she married James but also because she greatly helped contribute to establishing both rural west side communities throughout Central Valley area before moving back East herself following prohibition ratification (and establishment) during 19th century period; this movement back East included relocation/settlement efforts throughout areas currently known as Old Town Crescent Draegerstown Sleepy Hollow Grass Valley apparent today where Ohlone settlement began about 100 miles due to newly discovered archeological evidence associated there), thus establishing southeastern Contra Costa County's first permanent full time white settlements south thereof circa 1850s; many residents located there then relocated/settled further West still subsequent thereto during late 19th century period especially around Redding Creek valley prior thereto becoming part of Soquel Valley appellation established 1888
