Piedmont is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley of California. It is located about 25 miles north of Fresno and 40 miles south of Stockton, on the east bank of the San Joaquin River. The population was 4,811 at the 2010 census. The first gun target in Piedmont was erected by Captain George Armstrong in 1827. It consisted of a large post made out of logs and placed on high ground near present-day Southbridge High School. A second target was built in 1829 by Colonel John Sutter and consisted of a flagpole with a U-shaped stand for firing from. In 1849, Captain David Levy began erecting targets at his home on Court House Road northeast of town. These targets were made outof heavy timbers with iron gratings above them to give shooters an idea where they were hitting their targets. In 1853, Captain Charles Biddle erected another target at his home which still stands today - it consists of two posts which are 12 feet apart and rise 20 feet from the ground when fully erect. Captain JOSEPH WALKER began shooting guns at targets there in 1865 while stationed at Fort Fortunato north of town (now part of Redding). He became quite successful and soon set up shop inside what is now known as Walker's Store (at 5 Neches Street). From here he started posting scores every day to various newspapers around America! His success led him to open his own store some time after 1870; this store still stands today (it is now called Walkers Hardware). A third target park was established in Piedmont by Captain WM HALFORD in 1903 (near present-day Middle School) as part of Army maneuvers being conducted along I-5 in that area! Unfortunately, due to bad weather conditions this park was not used much but it does survive to this day! By 1907, all three gun parks had been closed down due to tightening regulations from local authorities; however,Captain HALFORD reopened them soon afterward under new management using materials he had salvaged from other locations within Piedmont itself! Today there are only two remaining old target parks left – one located just east side Main Street between First Avenue & Second Street and another located just west side Second Avenue between First & Second Streets – both Parks have been converted into commercial businesses currently known as Gun Park Targetting USA LLC., Inc.. All 3 original Park sites remain intact as historical artifacts making them very popular tourist destinations for anyone interested in history /Target Shooting activity…..

Piedmont, California is an unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California. The population was 1 at the 2010 census. It lies east of the city of Sacramento and west of the city of Monterey. The first Europeans to visit Piedmont were Spanish captains Juan Bautista de Anza and Francisco Vásquez de Arroyo on November 17, 1821, during their journey from San Diego to Monterey Bay. They named the community "San José" after General José Altamirano's estate near Santiago del Círculo in Chile where they had been staying before their journey. A post office was established at Piedmont on October 25, 1832. The town's first store was built by prospector John Sutter in 1835. In 1851, militia forces led by Colonel George Armstrong Custer staged an attack against Cheyenne Indians living near present-day Red Bluff in what is now Nevada County; as a result, many settlers left Piedmont for Reno and other nearby towns during that year. On January 8, 1861, the Californian legislature authorized Governor Edmunds to establish two counties—El Dorado County and Nevada County—in addition to Sacramento County; Piedmont became one of these new counties along with Auburn and Rocklin. However, because it lay within Jurupa Valley proper (northwest of Los Angeles), there was little development done here until after World War II when citrus production increased significantly throughout Southern California due to wars fought over control of oil resources in that region; this drove much development into eastern Riverside County including Riverside and El Monte which are located adjacent to Piedmont today. A post office operated at Piedmont from 1865 until 1896; its name changed to "Riverside" in 1896 when it moved into its current location adjacent to Interstate 5 north of downtown Los Angeles. In 1907–1908 local school trustees organized a high school which eventually became UCLA; however high school students continued attending Bachman School starting in 1915 until it closed in 1967 due largely to budget cuts caused by then-Governor Pat Brown's efforts to reduce state spending on education although some students continue attend private schools today despite being required by law not do so.; student enrollment has slowly trended upwards since then as public schools have struggled with larger budgets while private schools have flourished given limited government funding restrictions). Piedmont is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 6,362 at the 2010 census. It lies within the eastern edge of the city of San Bernardino. The area now known as Piedmont was first inhabited by the Serrano people, who lived on the banks of the San Gabriel River before moving west to what is now Yucca Valley in 1821. A post office called Piedmont was established in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. Beginning in 1906, a group of entrepreneur farmers named Fenton bought land east of present-day Piedmont and began developing it into a agricultural center with markets for local produce and goods from all over Southern California. By 1912, Fenton had built up a large farm complex that included an opera house and other buildings used today as housing or commercial properties. In 1914–15, during World War I, Fenton helped establish Campaspe Air Base near Redlands; he also served as its first commander. In 1936, when Interstate 10 was completed along its current route through central San Bernardino County, part of it ran through what is now Piedmont/Yucca Valley and led to rapid growth in this rural area around Campaspe AFB; development continued well into the 1960s as roads were improved and businesses were built throughout what is now downtown Piedmont. In 1965–66 revised boundaries of San Bernardino County resulted in part of eastern Piedont entering into incorporated city limits while much larger parts retained their rural character; during this time there were dramatic changes to local demographics with many families moving out to become employees or commuters outside town limits. Downtown business districts such as Live Oak Downtown started emerging with new restaurants and small stores opening up to serve residents who had abandoned their homes for economic reasons during this period dubbed "The Great Escape." However by 2000 most businesses had closed down due to high prices for labor hereabouts compared with other areas around Los Angeles or Orange County where jobs are plentiful but wages are lower relative to those elsewhere within California's state prison system.. Many residents have returned since then although some still live outside town limits... Today downtown districts like Live Oak continue shopping district has more than 20 big box stores
