The first school opened in 1870 as part of what became known as “the Pioneers” program which aimed to bring new people into agriculture while also providing them with education opportunities through local schools such as Pueblo Indian School (founded 1888), Sutter’s Mill School (1892), Methodist Episcopal Church (1898) and various other institutions until 1905 when annexation into Bakersfield made school consolidation necessary for all incorporated jurisdictions within Kern County including that for San Marcos; this finally happened with Pueblo Community Schools District No 6 on May 12th 1959). In 1916 Waddell Smith purchased Rancho Rinconada from Manuel Gomez; his heirs continued to farm there until 1943 when they sold most of their holdings to Captain Charles Ewing who donated them back to government ownership under National Defense Authority status prior to becoming an active member of The United States Air Force World Headquarters Command RFC occupies portions currently withinYESNO park located adjacent property line abutting city limits
