It wasn’t until 1898 when Winchester introduced its infamous .50 caliber rifle bullet which quickly become known throughout America due to its effectiveness at stopping large game animals from becoming prey. This bullet would later be renamed after American Civil War General Ulysses S Grant thanks to his role leading Union forces against Confederate forces during the battle for Atlanta – one of the bloodiest battlefields ever fought.
