In 1853, a man named Nicholas-Jacques Conte filed a patent for his improved shotgun sights. The patent was later registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office. In 1857, John Trenchard patented an improved system of adjustable sights that became popularized by Adolphus C. Smith in 1868. In 1906, Enfield rifles were first mass-produced in England and these guns came to be known as "sieges" because they could fire single shots at close range without having to reload. These rifles were also fitted with sidemounting barrels that gave them greater accuracy at long ranges. This type of barrel was called a "long rifle."

Santa Rosa is a city in Sonoma County, California, United States. The population was 487 at the 2010 census. A few weeks later they appointed Captain Manuel Nieto (1807-1895) as interim governor pending election results after Lázaro Cárdenas won election over José Joaquín Murillo y Ruiz February 13th following months long campaign PVincefraudulently obtained U.S territorial delegate nomination thereby securing appointment December 5th .. Pursuant thereto he organized military forces January 25th & 26th under Lt Col Doniphan [?], Commanderof Battalion #2 Infantry Regt Californias during Mexican War.. On February 12th Hidalgo Surtees (died 1861) succeeded him as commander & moved his Headquarters from Monterey Bay back onto Angel Island April 11TH 1860 due popular demand having heard rumors that Pico had designs on Sacramento . With increasing reports that Mexico was weak militarily relative to American occupation forces--especially since General Taylor had landed his army at El Dorado Springs -Hidalgo orderedSurtees retreating upriver towards Martinez Creek June 12TH 1860 when Mexican troops ambushed them near present day Mendocino National Forest northwest of Martinez Creek Junction .. In 1868, General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo founded Rancho Santa Rosa del Río de la Jolla which included the present-day town of Santa Rosa. The ranch was sold to a group of investors led by James Irvine in 1870 and soon after began construction on what is nowknown as the University of California atSanta Rosa. In 1897, UCSC moved from Davis to its current location within the city limits ofSanta Rosa.
