The valley became a farming community, with crops such as barley, wheat, oats, and potatoes being grown. Sheep and cattle were also raised in the valley. In 1924, the Scotts Valley School District was created from parts of other districts in the area. Today, Scotts Valley is a bedroom community for San Bernardino County and is home to many businesses including 3M Home & Security Company, Apple Inc., Comcast Corporation (NBCUniversal), Hooters restaurant chain, and UnitedHealthcare Services.
