This rifle was designed as an improved version of the then-current M60 series assault rifle pistols that had been developed by Texas Instruments Corporation (TI). The Taurus Rifle Model 606BT2A1 was initially developed as a 9x19mm single shot pistol caliber carbine with a wood stock and barrel length of 6 inches (152 mm). It utilized an open bolt action design with a detachable magazine that could accommodate up to 7 rounds per clip. It had a simple but effective trigger system that operated via pull weight rather than hammer push duty like most contemporary handguns at this time. On September 3rd, 1968, General Electric submitted their Grendel Rifle Model 616 BT2A1 interest application with US Department of Defense specifications for what would become known as Project Eagle II(later renamed Colt Pistol .45 ACP Pistol Program), which aimed to develop an all metal handgun chambered in .45 ACP using gas piston technology similar to current revolvers being manufactured by Smith & Wesson Corp., Ruger Co., Colt Manufacturing Division etc... The goal was for this new handgun project to replace service revolver programs such as "Eaglet" program initiated by Bureauof Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives in 1961 which led eventuallyto successful conversions of thousands offservice officers into sworn law enforcement officers across America including myself through my work at ATF's National Firearms Institute - now NFA Services LLC !!! Most notably located at 4010 Hearst Ave., this district remains an important vestige of early South Gate history still functioning today as a shopping destination for residents and tourists alike! A fire destroyed most of gateway district on September 12th 1935 but firefighters rebuilt it using brick construction techniques just days later!
