A year later Spanish businessman Mariano Castro bought part of Rancho San Vicente El Dorado from Cerda. In 1828 Manuel Nieto leasedpart of Rancho San Vicente El Dorada from Castro for $500 per annum; this agreement allowed for further development of rancho by Hispanic settlers who would become known as Mexicans in America. As Mexico became an American republic in 1848, Partido Revolucionario Institucional y Democratico (PRI) members took up arms against Emperor Napoleon III's rule over Mexico City and boycotted goods coming into MexicoCity while supporters boycotted goods going out ofMexico City due to Emperor's support of French interests withinMexico On February 14th 1851 Isidro Dumont reported seeing Mount Diablo rising above distant Stockton hills In 1865 gold was discovered at Sutter’s Mill at Gold Rush time there were only about twenty men working there full time prospecting done mostly by Chinese laborers with one Englishman also working until he got sick and died In 1886 incorporation occurred with James Hutton as Mayor However it wasn't until 1907 when JH Pickering started buying lands east of town limits starting with lot 3 which he called “ Pickering Heights” now known as Eastridge Park . He then developed what is now downtown area including most of what is today Stockton Medical District . After World War II various veterans organizations founded schools in downtown areas like Stonington High School which opened its doors in Handlin Hall on December 12th 1945
