In 1912, Tehachapi became part of what is now known asMetro Orange County when parts of Anaheim Hills were annexed by that county from Irvine County. As Riverside County grew larger and more populous since 1945, so too did demand for space within Metro Orange County which led to the construction of several new counties including Riverside and Los Angeles counties within Metro Orange County in 1969-1970. This process ultimately created a deficiency in available land within Metro Orange County which caused tension between Riverside/Los Angeles counties and Santa Ana Counties over jurisdiction over various areas within that region includingTehachapi Rancho San Francisco de Arroyo eastward into eastern Riverside County where those counties had authority; however tensions eventually dissipated because both sides realized they needed each other’s support while growing their respective populationsiles
