During World War II, WFC produced over 1 million rounds of ammunition for use by the military. They also produced shotguns which were key to military success during that time period; including both main battle tanks (M1 Abrams) as well as anti-tank guns (the M1917 Tank Gun). In 1977 WFC merged with Remington Arms Company becoming Rheinmetall AG which still produces firearms products today under their own brand name “Remington”

The first European to visit the area now known as Thousand Oaks was Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo in 1542. The Mission of San Gabriel Arcángel, founded in 1771 by priests from the missions of Santa Catalina and San Miguel de Allende, is one of the oldest Missions in California.
