His company, Imperial Oil Company, built many homes in what are now West Hollywood including ones that are still standing today such as the Romanesque Revival-style Rancho Santa Monica clubhouse which overlooks Century Boulevard (now Federal Way Boulevard). Murchison's success led to other companies starting up within miles of each other in what is now Downtown Los Angeles: First National City Bank opened its doors on Broadway between 2nd Street and 3rd Street NW; American Tobacco Properties opened its doors on Fairfax Avenue between 10th Avenue NW and 11th Avenue NW; RKO Radio Pictures Corporation moved into its new building on Vine Street between Spring StreetSW and Grand Army PlazaNW; Paramount Pictures Corporation moved into its new building on Olympic Boulevard between 1st Street SW and 14th Street SW; Goldwyn Pictures Corporation set up shop along Vine Street between 15th Avenue SW AND 16th Avenue SW with their own production studios inside Girdwood High School (now UCLA); Arts Council Productions Inc., later renamed United Artists Productions Inc., opened their door on La Cienega Boulevard between Crescent Heights Road AND Ventura Blvd.; Universal Pictures Corporation set up shop along La Cienega Boulevardbetween Pico Blvd AND Robertson Blvd.; Western Electric Railway Company set up shop on Sunset Strip just south of Vine StREET
