Today, Wildomar has many stores including Barnes & Noble (now Macy's), Save-A-Lot (now JCPenney), Hansen's Fresh Market (now Kroger), Old Time Radio Shack (now Radio Shack), Sears Roebuck & Co., Fry's Electronics (later Fry's Pizza) and several restaurants such as Gold Rush BBQ and China Moon Tea House which serve American Chinese cuisine like dim sum and dumplings from theirlocation inside Old Time Radio Shack across from Sears Department Store

In 1863, Gold Rush miners arrived in Wildomar and soon began extracting gold from the surface Minersville vein near where the town now stands. By 1865, Wildomar had become a thriving community with several shops and a school. The population grew rapidly during the mid-1860s as more and more people came to prospect for gold in Northern California's mountains. By 1870, Wildomar had reached its peak with over 100 residents and five stores. However, by 1871 mining operations ceased due to poor health concerns among some of the local miners. The town gradually fell apart as various businesses closed or were taken over by newcomers while the population dwindled to just 10 people by 1876. But despite its decline during that time period, Wildomar has experienced significant growth since then – becoming one of Southern California's most prominent agricultural towns with an estimated 1 million acres (500 km2) of farmland irrigated through irrigation canals today.
