Evans, Colorado is a small town in the Rocky Mountains of Western Colorado. It was named for George Evans, who platted the town in 1895. The first post office was established in 1903. The settlement grew slowly until World War I when it became an important militaryinstallation due to its locations on two key routes between Denver and Fort Collins. After the war, Evans experienced rapid growth as an ammunition production center. During the 1970s and 1980s, Evans saw continued growth as a result of its location within easy reach of the booming mining communities of Anaconda and Parker County.Today, Evans remains a vibrant community with a wide variety of businesses and cultural experiences. Its residents are proud their town has been home to such venerable institutions asthe University of Colorado at Boulder (UCO), which was founded in 1907; andtheEvans Museum, which opened in 2003.

In 1938, he opened Hite's Restaurant which served as the nucleus for what would become Evans' commercial center today. With this early commercial development, Evans quickly became known as America's food capital thanks to its variety of groceries and restaurants options available from local businesses like Hite's Restaurant and Wittners Drug Store which remain operational today. Since its establishment as a village in 1912, there have been many changes take place within Evans including annexation by Greeley in 1978; growth due to population growth throughout Weld County over time; numerous building projects including two high schools; expansions into other areas such as eastside apartments;IGH technology developments such as Home Depot/Everett Hite Middle School which opened in 2004; mixed-use redevelopment along I-25 corridor that includes new housing units along with several dozen stores across various sectors including manufacturing/services etc.; major sporting events such as Colorado State University football games played at Pikes Peak Stadium or US Open tennis championships held at Cañon City Arena drawing large crowds all while keeping traditional commerical activities alive like Hite's Restaurant where locals gather weekends evenings for family fun
