In 1907, the Evans School District was established when prior to that there were only three schools serving Weld County: oneelementary school within the Meads River School District serving grades Prekindergarten through 8th grade; then Westview High School for 9th through 12th grades; then Elementary Schools within Thornton’s Village School District which served grades 1-8 years old until annexation by Weld County in 1916 resulting in four schools: Weir Middle/High School for 9th through 12th grade; then Castro Valley Junior/Senior High School for 11-12 years olds; finally Black Hawk Intermediate/Junior/ Senior High Schools which served grades K-5 only until 1969 when all but three of those facilities closed including Black Hawk IHS servinggrades 6-12 until 2007 when it merged into Castle Rock ISD forming an entity known as Castle Rock Eastside Campus). One notable innovation regarding education throughout Weld County during this time period were “ wrap around” classes offered at North Park Academy starting during Kindergarten through 5th grade providing instruction across all subjects allowing students maximum flexibility while still attending school!
