Federal Heights is a city in Colorado, United States. The population was 16,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Federal Heights was laid out as a town in 1878 by James Wickersham and others who surveyed the area for the Union Pacific Railroad. The town was renamed Federal Hill in 1889 after President George Washington's home on Mount Vernon Place in Alexandria, Virginia. The first post office opened in 1879, and it remains the only post office still open in Federal Heights today. As a result of its small size and isolated location until recently (due to Interstate 25 running through it), Federal Heights experienced limited development until recent years when an increase in job opportunities attracted new residents and businesses to its center. However, much of what has made Federal Heights so successful over the years has come from its team spirit and community spirit which has helped make it one of most supportive cities within commuting distance for workers throughout Colorado Springs and Aurora. Federal Heights began to grow slowly until around 1990 when jobs started opening up outside of Colorado Springs due to NAFTA/IMF trade deals that were happening at that time; this led to more people moving into Federal Heights and also increased development near Interstate 25 due to new housing being built nearby (the original plan was for Interstate 25 Boulevard to be widened but this never happened). In recent years there have been several construction projects going on such as a new elementary school (#1) which opened up space next door in 2013, addition of apartments (#2) which are mixed use with residential units above ground level as well as retail below ground level; these have led to an overall increase in activity along I25 which has led to an increase in business profits for local businesses which benefits everyone involved including employees, landlords, developers and customers alike. Overall, despite some challenges faced by locals like high crime rates or lack of public transportation options (I-25 runs through Federal Heights so cars need to be taken off road), overall things seem positive here because people work together towards common goals while maintaining their individual identities - something that can only happen when communities are supported by their government officials who care about them

During that time, it produced hay and other crops such as wheat and oats; cattle were also raised hereabouts. In 1916, when Federal Heights became a city, its citizens voted to put a pothole road through their midst - this street now bears their name (albeit with an extra ‘e’). After years of growth and change within Federal Heights itself – most notably during the late 1960s when downtown annexed much of the neighboring community of Aurora – today’smarked community offers plenty for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. The Federal Heights area was settled in 1859 by the United States government, as part of the Gold Rush. The gold rush ended in 1869, after a number of failed attempts. In 1865, the U.S. Supreme Court announced that slavery was unconstitutional and ordered all free states to recognize emancipation of slaves. The region flourished for a few years until it too declined in population and commerce during the 1870s due to problems with malaria and other diseases brought over from Mexico City.
