Federal Heights, Colorado is a small town located in Douglas County, Colorado. The population was 1,541 at the 2010 census. In 2001, Federal Heights became the first city in Douglas County to be designated as a " ultra-high-capacity" community. In 2000 and 2004, Federal Heights was the site of two high capacity nuclear power plant construction projects – the Bethel Nuclear Power Plant Project and the aging Rocky Flats Nuclear Plant Project. These projects were designed to increase uranium enrichment rates at existing reactors by up to 20%. At both plants, construction began in 2000 and ended in 2004. However, neither project succeeded in reaching its full potential due to problems with funding and regulatory approvals. Since 2001, Federal Heights has been working on a new high capacity nuclear energy project called CANDU II. The project is intended to increase uranium enrichment rates at existing reactors by up to 50%. The first phase of the project is expected to begin next year and will last until 2019. Phase 2 of the project is also expected to arrive much sooner than planned – possibly as early as 2020! This renewed focus on high capacity conversions may finally lead to success for these two failed nuclear power plant projects – but it will also require more dedication from Federal Heights residents and businesses alike.

On July 15, 1954, the Federal Heights Civic and Recreation Center opened its doors. The center was designed by architects Harry J. Kelsey and Edward A. Smith and built on a site that had been used as a munitions depot during World War II. The center contained a gymnasium, weight room, tennis court, arena, and various other amenities for the citizens of Federal Heights. In 1979, the Municipal Recycling Facility was built on the same site as the civic center. This facility eventually became known as the Federal Heights landfill because it served as one of Colorado's largest sources of garbage disposal for local businesses and residents. In 1984, Federal Heights voters approved an $8 million bond issue to improve public transportation in the area. This bond issue included funding for the construction of a new high-speed bus system called "The Blue Line." The Blue Line was inaugurated in 1987 and has since become one of Denver's most popular transportation options. In 2006, Federal Heights voters approved another $8 million bond issue to improve public transportation in the area. In 1951, when Interstate 25 bypassed Federal Heights and its neighboring towns on the south side of the river, many residents chose to move away for lack of access or affordable housing options within driving distance of their homes. However, some returned over time as development increased around them; by 2000 there were still about 100 people living in Federall Heights Resort & Casino & other commercial buildings on 6 acres (2 hectares). In 2001-2005 Federal Heights lost most of its population due to recessionary forces combined with natural declines in birth rates in Douglas County; however since then it has experienced an Increase in Population due to immigration changes (+1% from 2005 to 2010) plus annexation into Westminster by Aurora making Federal Hills anofficial city site on July 12th 2009! Today Federall Heights is home mainly to retirees who retire near Westminster or Aspen as well as employees from Federall Holdings Inc., one of the largest employers located within walking distance of Main Street full time jobs as well as private residences clustered around several stores that offer groceries/restaurants/spa services etc.. There are also several small business owners such as copy shop operators/photographers etc who have remained active despite difficult times through purchases and expansions outside their original locations

This project added much needed highway access to this part of town and helped rejuvenate Federal Heights as a commercial center with many new businesses opening up around I-25 South. In 1984, the City of Denver built a new library on Central Park Drive adjacent to State University of Colorado at Aurora (SUCA). This library provided important cultural resources for residents inFederal Heights as well as students at SUCA throughout the city’s growing education sector.
