Federal Heights is a town in Douglas County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Junction metropolitan area. The first Europeans to come to Federal Heights were two brothers who named themselves Lewis and Clark in 1804. They built a log cabin on the east side of what is now Fillmore Street and started trading with the Indians. The first post office was established in 1807, and Federal Heights was platted in 1828. In 1859 it became an incorporated municipality. During the early years of Colorado's Statutory Era (1861-1906), Federal Heights functioned as both a township and a separate county seat for Douglas County because it had more residents than either Pueblo or Greeley. As Statutory Township No. 3, it annexed parcels from Pueblo Township No. 2 in 1865; as Statutory County Seat No. 1, it absorbed portions of Greeley Township No 8 on February 14, 1907; but all citizens were still subject toDouglas County jurisdiction until January 1st 1912 when it became an unincorporated community within Grand Junction proper In 1902 FH severed its relationship with Greeley and developed into its own self-governing entity known today as "Federal Heights." Many major businesses have been located here including Boeing corporation (from 1906 until 1988), Pepsi Cola Bottling Company (since 1978), Continental Airlines (1948-present) and many more smaller businesses over time A variety of art galleries are scattered throughout this vibrant community - some dating back to the early 1800s while others opened much later

Federal Heights is a small town in Costilla County, Colorado, United States. The population was 765 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Greeley-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1876, Federal Heights Post Office was established and remained in operation until it closed in 1984. The first settler to come to Federal Heights were James Fenton and his family who arrived from Missouri on November 21, 1876. James Fenton's wife was also named Sarah and they had three children: John (1877-1955), Lillie (1879-1965) and Harry (1881-1967). They started a small log cabin that still stands today near the intersection of 12th Street and Academy Road. Fenton later married Elizabeth Patton and their families moved to Colorado Springs where they founded the town of Federal Heights in 1887. Elizabeth Patton died in 1907 but her husband continued living there until his death on July 20, 1951. The townsite name "Federal Heights" was chosen by the post office due to its location just east of what is now known as Aurora Avenue South in downtown Aurora. When Federal Heights Post Office closed its doors for good on August 15, 1984, it left behind a lasting legacy that continues to this day; an abandoned grocery store located between 9th & 10th Streets which still remains unoccupied today despite being vacant for over 25 years! The store has been vacant ever since because no one wanted to move into an unoccupied building! In addition to its historical significance, Federal Heights also offers some unique attractions such as two reconstructed cannons from Fort Lyon which can be seen inside Independence Hall Museum; or the graves of former Congressman Ben Ray Lujan and First Lady Laura Bush located just outside of town limits near Interstate 24! Overall, Federal Heights is a rare example of a thriving community that has survived through times including recessionary periods as well as influxes of new residents!
The Federal Heights area was first settled by the Hahns in 1872. The population of Federal Heights increased rapidly due to the gold rush and cattle drives that took place in the area. By 1886, there were over 1,000 people living in Federal Heights. Businesses began to grow quickly as a result of the increase in traffic and trade activity between Denver and Colorado Springs. In 1907, the city of Denver was created from part of Federal Heights and other parts of Aurora.
