Greenwood is a small town in Pueblo County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,301 at the 2010 census. Greenwood is located on U.S. Highway 64 and State Highway 119. It is east of Fort Collins and northwest of Aspen. The first people to live in what is now Greenwood were Native Americans who hunted and gathered resources along the Arkansas River valley in what is now eastern Colorado. In 1876, Greenwood was platted as a town by Hiram Sells and other pioneers from Colorado City, Utah Territory. The community developed slowly until World War II when it experienced an influx of veterans from nearby San Diego County who needed housing and jobs. Greenwood, Colorado is a town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 5,755 at the 2010 census. Greenwood is part of the Denver–Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Greenwood were settled by farmers in the early 1800s.
