holster history in Meriden, Connecticut began with the early days of firearms. Holsters were used to protect weapons from theft and were often made of leather. In 1824, a man named Elisha Gray purchased a rifle from John Brown and founded the first gunsmith shop in Meriden. The Gunsmith shop soon became famous for its quality holsters. Later on, other gunsmiths started to join Gray’s business and together they began making holsters for different types of guns. By 1830, the Gunsmith Shop had become an important center for holster manufacturing in Connecticut. Many different types of handguns were made at the Gunsmith Shop, including revolvers, rifles, shotguns, and pistols. In 1836, Captain John Sullivan purchased the Business from Elisha Gray and it continued under his command until 1840 when it was sold to Amos Adams Jr. The Adams Armory quickly became one of Connecticut’s leading holster manufacturers during this time period. During this time period, Adams also produced some of America’s most popular pistols such as the Colt .45ACP and Smith & Wesson Model 642 revolver. Adams Armory left Meriden for good in 1854 but their legacy can still be seen today through their many products that are used by law enforcement officers around the world!

Meriden is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 24,898 at the 2010 census. Its name is derived from the English word "mere" meaning "field." The town was incorporated in 1664 and named for Sir George Meriden, 1st Baronet. The first white settler in what is now Meriden was Nicholas Poblete, who arrived on horseback in 1664. A few years later John Winthrop founded West Hartford Academy and bought land around it to create what is now Meriden Park. In 1701 James Otis built a house in what is now Main Street, which became the first courthouse in Connecticut. In 1837 Meriden became one of the towns that formedHartford Township when Hartford County was created. The first post office opened in 1837 and remained open until 1862; it was then moved to Suffield until 1865 when it reopened at Main Street as meriden post office again. On October 14, 1905, Mayor Edward Jepson of New Haven approved plans by the city to annex much ofMERIDEN – including portions of present-day North Meridian and South Meridian Streets – into the expanding city limits thereby creating a single community with more than 2300 residents within its limits instead of two separate communities with over 3000 residents each

Meriden, Connecticut is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 20,912 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest town in Hartford County and the second-smallest municipality in Connecticut after WestHartford. The first settler to arrive in Meriden was Nicholas Sargent who arrived on May 8, 1636. He crossed the Mohawk River with his family and founded a small community near present-day North Meriden. One of Sargent's grandsons built what is now the square named for him on Main Street just west of High Street. A group of meridian men from New Haven chartered an "old navy" on October 4, 1714 and set sail for England carrying goods bound for Rhode Island and other points southward. On November 5, 1715, Greenwich Township was organized from parts of Stamford and New Haven townships under the name of Greenwich Village which included most of what is now Meriden excepting some land grant to Middletown). On February 1st of that year (1716), Stamford Town voted to annex part ofmeriden so as not to duplicate Greenwich Village's vote but later rescinded that decision when they realized they would only have 2nd class status within the new township. Meriden had its first schoolhouse in 1802 which served grades K-8 until 1907 when a new high school was built adjacent to Stonington High School which closed in 1984 due to budget cuts by thenHartford Mayor John DeStefano Jr.. The old high school building still stands today as Meriden Intermediate School serves grade 9 through 12 students from all overtown including those from neighboring Branford who attendStanton Middle School across street which has since been renamed Middlebury Academy pursuant to state mandate). In 1911 there were also two post offices located here: one operated by America First National Bank (now Wells Fargo) at 306 Main Street (now North First Avenue) while another operated by Citizens Trust Company (later known as Trustco) at 308 Main Street (now South First Avenue). In 1926 both post offices were combined into one office called Merchants Exchange where they remain today. A few years later public transportation became available through horse drawn carriages called "Meridian coaches" running between downtown Stamford and various outlying villages including North Canaan where passengers caught a ride home or took a trip downriver on their return trip; this service ceased operations circa 1948 when US Route 64 opened up making it easier for people living outside of town to get around without having to go into town every time they wanted To go somewhere else In 1912 surveyors began mapping out properties adjoiningmeriden based upon their findings that approximately 60% (.693 square miles)of Hartford County lay withinMERIDEN'S boundaries thus furnishing cartographers with an excellent area for future development! As more people moved into towns like Hamden & Waterbury along Rte 64 (& eventually eastern Long Island), it became increasingly difficult for meriden residents & businesses owners alike to keep up with increased traffic & development coming their way....... however because MERIDEN WAS ALWAYS HEADQUARTERS OF THE TREASURY HARTFORD COUNTY COMMUNITY BOARD& MAINTAINED TOTAL CONTROL OVER ITS GOVERNMENT FROM EARLY DISPATCHES TO PRESENT DAY......THE PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM DID NOT OPERATE FROM MERIDEN UNTIL AFTER THE BEGINNING OF THE 20th CENTURY THEREFORE NO ONE CAN SAY FOR CERTAIN THAT MERIDEN PLAYED ANY ROLE IN HEALTH OR EDUCATION COASTAL SERVICES BEFORE THAT TIME
