The Naugatuck Pistol & Rifle Club was formed in 1903. The club’s first meeting was on October 7, 1903. The club primarily consisted of citizens who were interested in gun ownership and shooting sports. In 1910, the club organized its first NRA-sponsored pistol match. At the same time, the club began to make donations to local charities. In 1912, the Naugatuck Pistol & Rifle Club merged with the Hartford Open Air Shooting Association (HOA) to form a new organization called the Connecticut Pistol and Rifle Club (CPRC). CPRC held its first NRA-sanctioned pistol match in 1915. From 1915-1922, CPRC sponsored several rifle matches as well as a number of shotgun matches. In 1922, CPRC disbanded due to financial problems. However, it reorganized itself as the Connecticut Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) and continued sponsorship of rifle matches through 1927.

Naugatuck was first settled by Native Americans and part of theConnecticut Confederation in 1664. The town began to be developed as a commercial center after it was incorporated as a township in 1817. In 1884, the town became one of two towns in Hartford County (the other being West Hartford) to be annexed by New Haven; this annexation created the city of Naugatuck. Manufacturing businesses include Wixom-based TIBCO Inc., which manufactures telecommunications equipment; YMCA Inc., which sells fitness equipment and memberships; Fidelity Investments, an insurance company; and Phelps & Amoco Corporation, which produces fuel oil products. Other major employers include Compass Learning Center which provides charter schools with instruction in arts and sciences; United Airlines America which operates passenger services out of the airport located just outside of town; Ford Motor Company'sElkhart Assembly Plant No 2 production line for small engines; and Carbine Industries, a plastics manufacturer that has its headquarters within walking distance of the town square. This decrease may have been due in part to mass public education campaigns encouraging people not carry handguns around at all times – instead preferring more traditional means such as fists or knives – which led assailants(non-firearm owners)to believe that carrying a weapon would make them more dangerous than they already were (Fenton 2009). Naugatuck, Connecticut is a town in New England and the county seat of Hartford County. The population was 21,604 as of the 2010 census, making it the second most populous municipality in New England after Boston. It is bordered by Stamford to the south, West Haven to the east, Waterbury to the north and Norwich to the west. Naugatuck lies on Long Island Sound at its eastern edge and forms an important commercial corridor between New York City and Hartford. The town began as a small village named Naugatuck in 1697 when settlers from Massachusetts arrived on Long Island seeking new land for their families. The name was first applied to part of what is now Waterbury Township. In 1720, William Tryon founded Tryon's Mills here and developed this into a manufacturing center for goods brought overland from Great Britain. The first school in Naugatuck was established in 1768 by Reverend Nathaniel Meador. In 1802, Congress passed an act providing for education within each county and allocation of tax money towards that purpose. This act also designated Naugatuck asthe county seat of Hartford County; however, local officials continued to call it "Naughten". On July 1, 1840, following passage of acts establishing other county seats throughout New England (including Fairfield), Naughten becameHartford County's first incorporated town when residents voted 3-to-1 in favor thereof over objections from neighboring West Haven. As with many early American towns, growth within Hartford County followed a modest pace until 1830 when large numbers of Germans settled here during their migration west across Long Island Sound – turning what had been primarily agricultural farmland into one of the largest industrial districts in North America. In 1836–37 Isaac Brock set out on horseback from his home near East Windsor to explore this newly opened territory which he called "The United States." His goal was not only exploration but also settlement – he hoped that through Purchase land from Native Americans living there he could purchase enough acreage so that Connecticut could be taken full ownership by America rather than shared among numerous British colonies under royal rule. Brock's venture failed but signified an important advance for territorial expansionism: although initial settlement efforts were successful only 10 percent of all area claimed by America were acquired before his death at age 53 years old three years later; while total area claimed increased largely due to purchases made subsequent year by President James Krieger under same rationale In 1841–42 Yale College graduate Ezra Stiles led an expedition organized jointly with Ticknor & Fields Company executives John Jacob Astor (brother-in-law of Andrew Carnegie) and Augustus Saint Lawrence (founder/president/ CEOof Sears Roebuck & Co.), seeking mineral rights along Litchfield River—the first major victory for American entrepreneurs interested in opening up new country beyond British Flanders where luxury goods such as flour were produced under license from English landlords
Naugatuck was founded in 1664 by John Naugatuck and his wife, Judith. It became a town in 1701 when it merged with the neighboring village of Easton. The first public school was established in 1768. Naugatuck's first mill, built in 1792, was the first to be erected in Connecticut. In 1806, the town voted to annex nearby Whitesboro and renamed itself Naugatuck again. The population of Naugatuck reached 8,500 by 1915 and peaked at 12,000 in 1940. However, during World War II the town declined as its residents enlisted for military duty or left to found their own homes elsewhere. When the war ended, the population sunk back below 6,000 and has not since regained significant heights. Today there are few remains of what once constituted Naugatucktown center but there is still evidence of its rich cultural history including a popular tourist spot called "The Brickpit" which located on Main Street between Court and Park Streets where people can view artifacts from local historical moments such as Indian Wars and battles fought during Revolutionary War period
