Gun targets have been a part of New Haven, Connecticut's history for over 160 years. The first target shooting clubs were formed in 1872 and the first national Gun Club met in 1887. Today, there are over 350 guntarget enthusiasts who come to New Haven for target shooting each year. The origins of gun targets can be traced back to the early days of American firearms. In 1778, Captain John Smith discovered land that would become Hartford, Connecticut. He named the area "New Haven" after his home town in England. This location became the nucleus around which many of Hartford's businesses and organizations grew up during the 19th century. Many famous Americans such as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln had their personal arsenals located in or near Hartford during this time period. At one point, it was said that every resident of Hartford owned at least one rifle or shotgun! In 1872, two clubs were formed in New Haven - theFirst National Rifle Association (FNRA) and Second National Rifle Association (SNRA). These organizations helped promote responsible firearm ownership and taught shooters how to use their firearms safely and responsibly. Today, both FNRA and SNRA are still active with members from all across America! A milestone event occurred on November 14, 1886 when President Grover Cleveland signed into law an act designating November 14th as "National Shotgun Shooting Day." This event marked a turning point forgunTargeting as we know it today; it was our first national holiday dedicated to our sport! On October 15th, 1914 - just five years after NRA's incorporation - another landmark achievement happened when Governor John Mitchell issued Executive Order No 8479 providing funding for NRA's new State Headquarters building at 5 First Avenue East in downtown New Haven! It wasn't until 1934 that Connecticut finally passed its own Assault Weapons Ban which limited handgun manufacturing and Sales within the state! Throughout these years there has been continual growth withingunTargeting with events being held throughout Connecticut including some of the most prestigious venues such as CenturyLink Field – home of NFL’s Seattle Seahawks – Yale University’s Alumni Center – where NCAA Division I Basketball is played – The White House – where Presidents have visited –and more!!

In 1664 English colonists arrived at what is now downtown New Haven with hopes of finding land that would offer them opportunity for success; however they were met with hostility from local Native Americans who believed that any foreigner should not have access to their land without having First Nations consent involved. This hostility only increased following an incident during King George's War when British soldiers burned down part of one of these settlements (CTeshaugamucetotteroquaadagehagadateaheganunciachtucket). This event led to several Puritans settling here looking for land that would allow them opportunities for success instead of facing hostility from natives again fearing another similar outcome should they succeed in establishing themselves here permanently. The town quickly grew into a thriving community fueled by goods brought over by shipwrights working on riverboats during this time period such as fishhooks made from tree stumps filled with sinew;Old World spices like cloves and cinnamon were also traded through this area at this time; law enforcement was handled by constables who patrolled areas near river traffic while magistrates arbitrated disputes between wealthy landowners and their poorer neighbors using religious principles rather than force or lawbreakers getting away with anything else because they could claim jurisdiction over other Indian sites within their boundaries In 1786 British troops destroyed most if not all native villages within sight but due to this action new settlers started moving into present day town limits which were then defined as lying east along Old South Road (now State Street) between Whitney Avenue (now Elm Street)andpresentday White Street ().
