However, despite some initial setbacks during postwar reconstruction efforts following World War II (such as limited job opportunities for local residents), recent economic growth has seen renewed interest in downtown Fernandina Beach and rapid redevelopment across much of north central Monroe County - including much new housing developments along Bahia de Fuca Boulevard - which has helped create new jobs and more vibrant community life since 2000. Today, Fernandina is one of Florida's fastest growing communities with populations reaching up to 1,500 people per square mile (or more than twice that number within downtown). While many aspects of daily life remain much the same as they were decades ago - such as grocery shopping or driving down Bahia de Fuca Boulevard towards Miami International Airport - there are also many unique experiences awaiting visitors to this lively community: from enjoying an afternoon sail on the St Johns River aboard a boat donated by local fishermen to visiting ancient ceremonial sites near shoreline; or spending time outdoors experiencing wildflowers or checking out locally made products at artisanal shopshops lining Bahia de Fuca Boulevard!
