Today there are more than 60 businesses located within walking distance of every major shopping district including Midtown Tampa Baywalk/East Side Live Oak Mall and St Pete's Waterfront Walk (including several high-end retailers), as well as many restaurants and nightlife venues that make this an ideal location for live music or family fun. Henschel to create the City of Pinellas Park which became a municipality on July 1, 1869 with A C White as Mayor and Wm G Fenton as Clerk of Courts The first school in what would become Pinellas Park was built on State Road 10 near present day Veterans Memorial Boulevard in 1870 by teacher Mrs Anna Burgess with students attending public schools until 1886 when it became an all white School District #1 school with Mrs Anna Burgess teaching until her death in 1915 In 1910 Anson Phelps donated land to build a golf course that still exists today called "Anson Phelps Golf Course" which opened its doors to play on December 2nd, 1910 In 1916 American Expeditionary Forces landed at Cape Canaveral Naval Air Station and were billeted ashore at Fort Brooke where they began their journey across America Anson Phelps donated land adjacent to his golf course so that military families could stay while their homes were being rebuilt after World War I In 1922 developer Harry Abrams developed an tract bounded by New York Avenue NW; Old Washington Street; Key Biscayne Boulevard SW; and US 41E which became known as "Pinellas Park" . The park includes natural areas including Lake Worth National Seaquarium and features such as beaches including Gulf Breeze Drive along its northern edge bordering Clearwater Bay
Pinellas Park was originally a Native American reservation in the area now known as Tampa. The first European to sight the area was Captain James Cook in 1768, when he charted what is now Pinellas County. In 1814, after Florida became a United States territory, it was annexed by Tampa. In 1821, pine trees were brought overland from South America and planted in what is now Clearwater County. The park opened to the public on December 3, 1911.
