Wildwood, Florida is located in Monroe County and is the only municipality in the county. The population of Wildwood was 5,651 at the 2010 census. In 1876, an arms factory was established in Wildwood by Captain John Fenton. Ammunition production began in the early 1800s with various manufacturers including Samuel Colt and Eli Whitney. By 1907, ammunition production had moved to a new plant on US Highway 16 in Wildwood that produced 100 rounds per minute from revolvers. Ammunition manufacturing continued until 1959 when it closed due to competition from more efficient firearms manufacturing plants overseas. The first rifle fire in America took place at Redstone Arsenal on July 6th, 1775 during the Battle of Bunker Hill which was fought between British regulars and American militia forces under General George Washington. Ammunition used at this battle consisted of cannonballs, shot and rockets fired from cannons into English positions near Boston Common. A total of 1 million rounds were expended during the battle making it one of the largest engagements fought during American independence up until then. Ammunition production increased rapidly after World War I as technology improved and demand for munitions grew worldwide following World War II as combat became more widespread throughout the world including Vietnam and Korea where artillery played a significant role in military campaigns. By 1957, ammunition production had ceased completely due to technological advancements such as self-loading rifles that made shells much easier to load than prior generations of firearms which led to fewer accidents resulting in less loss or damage to property caused by gunfire over time. Today, Wildwood produces small amounts of ammunition for personal use and target shooting purposes primarily using Federal Cartridge brass cases manufactured by Hornady Manufacturing Company which has been producing ammunition since 1866 with various product lines including varmint hunting ammo; shotgun ammo; rifle ammo; reloading supplies; armor piercing rounds (AP) ; airguns; fireworks products

Wildwood, Florida is located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population of Wildwood was 10,948 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1872 by General James K. Polk and his wife Anna Maria del Carmen de la Garza as a small farming community on November 5th. When the Fort De Soto Expedition arrived in 1875, they named their new settlement for De Soto's flagship—the "Castle of Spanish Town". After Fort De Soto was abandoned in 1879 and most of the Spanish garrison moved away, Wildwood nickname changed to "Sugarloaf" because sugarcane production increased there during that time period. In 1903, when one-third of all Floridians were Irish Americans living within two miles (3 km) of downtown Miami and two-thirds were black Africans American citizens living within five miles (8 km) of downtown Orlando,[2] Wildwood became an Irish American Catholic enclave which grew increasingly prosperous due to its close proximity to both metropolitans. In 1916 then Governor Manuel López Colón ordered the annexation of Everglades City into Miami so that it would have a more centralized government with more resources available for its residents; Wildwood refused annexation and continued to prosper as an independent community until 1949 when it amalgamated with neighboring Sugarloaf Village into Greater Miami.[1] In recent years much has been done to improve infrastructure including: construction of I-95/I-10 expressway through town; widening State Road A1A from logging road into a four-lane divided highway; installation of streetlights and sidewalks throughout town; growth in agriculture including rice planting near local shopping centers; establishment or renovation of several churches including Our Lady Of The Lake Church which now houses offices for the city’s mayor and city council members; development along US 1 linking town with adjacent unincorporated communities such as Belleair Key Clearwater Beach Resort[3][4] about 13 miles eastward from Wildwood on Longboat Key Island – home to world renowned Blackbeard’s island ; construction projects are ongoing or planned for numerous other areas within town limits - perhaps most notably Ivanhoe Golf Course which will include a restaurant/barandresque environment complete with custom built greenhouses onsite - allowing wildfowl access year round Today, while still experiencing some challenges like crime rates high enough to require police patrols during daytime hours outside business districts (i.e., near intersections),[5][6] Wildwood has made significant strides forward since its incorporation as an Independent Community over 100 years ago--most notably becoming known as one of South Florida's wealthiest towns & seatof Its powerful Mayoralty Office For many years now!
