The Acworth Armory was founded in 1892 and has been a part of the shooting community since then. The armory is home to many National and International firearm tournaments, as well as hosting local matches. It is also known for its trap range, which offers instruction in all types of firearms. In addition to host national events, the armory also has an annual meeting that features different exhibitors from across the country. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 11th and will include live demonstrations by firearm manufacturers and representatives from law enforcement agencies.

Acworth is a town in DeKalb County, Georgia, United States. The population was 1,922 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The community was founded in 1837 by General Nathan Bedford Forrest and his wife Julia as a small post on the Chattahoochee River. Acworth grew rapidly during the antebellum period with men, women and children working in agriculture, transportation and other businesses. In 1871, Acworth became an incorporated city with a population of 4,000 people. During World War II Acworth served as a military airfield for the U.SAAF Fifth Air Force RAF Station Acworth which operated from 1942 to 1945; it remained an active airfield until its closure in 1962. After World War II, many farmers left Acworth for better opportunities elsewhere but some continued to live there through the early 21st century. In recent years there has been significant development taking place within the town limits such as new shopping malls and restaurants being built near downtown while also plans are underway to update and revitalize much of what remain of infrastructure including historic buildings dating back to before incorporation into Atlanta

In 1866, Acworth was incorporated as a town in Jackson County. It became an independent city in 1907 and merged with Atlanta on January 1, 1959.
