Although there have been numerous technological advancements made since WWII with regards to lasers – including advances in optics and signal processing – the basic principle underlying all current incarnations remains essentially unchanged: short intense pulses of light delivered through a medium such as glass or plastic is needed for destructive power against enemy objects or personnel
