In the early 1800s, Lawrenceville was a small community located in what is now Fulton County. The town was named for General Jonathan Lawrence, who fought in the American Revolution. The population of Lawrenceville peaked at around 100 people in the mid-1820s, but began to decline after that. By 1849, the population had dwindled to just six people. In 1850, the area became part of Cobb County and Lawrenceville ceased to exist as a town.
