There were several reasons why gun-target shooters began using firing apparatus other than swords or spears: 1) Gun shootings were originally used for training purposes only; during medieval times firearms were not commonamongst Europeans and so no records exist verifying how extensively these activities took place; however, evidence does show that martial arts weapons such as bows and arrowswere commonly used for similar purposes at this time also 2) Many rapiers and large knives could easily decapitate humans if thrown pointblank at close range; therefore, most targets chosen for human targets were either animals (e.g., deer or pigs)or objects that would be easily obscured by clothing or equipment (e.g., shields or tents). Archery tournaments where participants shot wooden modelsof ships – known as ship games – featured different types of warships against each other from the 15th century onward

The city has since regained its former stature as an agricultural center with several farms remaining in operation today.
