Chubbuck, Idaho is a town in Butte County, Idaho, United States. The population was 979 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Boise metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1907 on the site of an old military post. The post office was established in 1908 and changed its name to Chubbuck in 1912. Chubbuck has a history that goes back to when it was an agricultural community: In 1907, pioneer Nelsons built a small log cabin near the present day intersection of US-92 and US-2. Over time, other pioneers also settled here and Chubbuck became a thriving community with several stores, two churches (one Congregational), two schools (one school district), a farmstead and many businesses including three banks and one hotel until it switched to full service as a municipal government in 1938 when it incorporated as a village. In 1924 Chubbock had its first electric light system with five Edison bulbs distributed across the village limits by Mr. W H McCullough who later served as mayor from 1944-1948 In 1938 the local Chamber of Commerce formed a popular committee to discuss ways to improve public services such as streetscaping and beautifying avenues with fresh flowers which resulted in making improvements such as more sidewalks, lighting, trash cans and more streetlights throughout the village In 1941 during World War II Village President Vernon Cramer donated land for use as airfields within easy commuting distance for troops stationed around eastern Utah so that they could be relieved from combat duty without having their homes bombed or destroyed After World War II ended Village President Cramer put together an effort to raise money for infrastructure projects like new roads, water systems etc which led to incorporation of TheVillage Corporation into Chubbcock on April 1st 1951) giving residents ultimate control over all aspects of their municipality through a board of directors

The first known settler in Chubbuck was James Fenton, who arrived in 1868. He built a cabin on the south bank of the Snake River. Fenton and his family were forced to leave after they received threats from local Native Americans. In 1881, John Eads bought land near Chubbuck and started a mercantile business called the Eads Mercantile Co. After buying more land, he founded the Chubbock & Eagle Mining Co., which mined gold until 1905. In 1907, he sold his shares in the company to Jerald Ault and moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where he continued mining gold until his death in 1913. After Ault's death, his son Harry took over management of the business and it continues today as Harry Ault Minerals Incorporated. In 1951, Harry Ault donated 1 million dollars to build an elementary school in Chubbuck; it currently serves as Chubbuck Elementary School
John Chubbuck was born in 1875 in Idaho, the son of a trapper and his wife. He became a rancher and farmer in the area, first in the Sawtooth Mountains and then on the Snake River Plain. In 1910, he married Gertrude Waterman. They live today on their ranch near Boise.
