Garden City, Idaho is a small town in the Snake River Valley of eastern Idaho. It has been home to residents since 1881 and it was designated as a city by an act of Congress in 1912. The population was 5,495 at the 2010 census. Garden City is one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in America. In 1881, James A. Garfield, then the president of the United States and mayor of Washington D.C., visited Garden City and observed that "the prettiest place I have seen on my travels [in America] is here". He recommended that American citizens move to Garden City so that they could see "the most beautiful country I ever saw".[1] The first scopes were built in Garden City during the early days of 20th century hunting expeditions into western Canada and Mexico for elk, deer, bear, and other game animals. The first scopes were designed primarily for hunting large birds such as bald eagles or ospreys rather than smaller prey such as squirrels or rabbits which could be caught with traditional methods like spear point shooting or hand-to-hand combat.[2][3] During World War II, garden city residents helped rebuild Boise after it was bombed by the Japanese during their war effort. After World War II ended there was increased interest in astronomy among local people and scientists who began building new telescopes at various sites around town including Palouse Observatory[5][6], University Field Observatory[7], and Mountain View Observatory[8]. These advances led to modern day scopes being built such as those used by astronomers today including Hale Telescope Array located near Carbon Creek outside of Salt Lake City,[9] Las Campanas Observatory located about 12 miles (19 km) east of Tucson,[10] Mauna Kea Observatories located atop an active volcano on Hawaii Island,[11][12][13][14] Subaru Telescope located on Mauna Loa Island,[15],[16],[17][18][19],[20], European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope Coherent Light Source (VLT) Paranal Station situated inside Chile's Atacama Desert,[21], ASI Sculpture Park adjacent to Redwood National Forest within Yosemite National Park,[22], etc., allowing people around the world to view astronomical events from any location imaginable without leaving their homes.[23] Today, garden city is known for its scenic beauty as well as its vibrant nightlife scene which includes live music performances at venues like Thee Parkside Ballroom[24], Regency Ballroom[25], Alamo Drafthouse cinemas across town [26], etc., making it one ofAmerica's most popular tourist destinations.[27]

The history of scopes in Garden City, Idaho can be traced back to 1885 when a group of businessmen from that town began selling telescopes. Over time, the business grew and became known as the Garden City Telescope Company. In 1938, the company was renamed the Scopes Corporation and continued to sell telescopes until 1982.
Garden City, Idaho is a town in northern Idaho on the Snake River Plain. It is bordered by Payette County to the south and east, Moxie County to the north, and Salmon River County to the west. The population was 1,194 at the 2010 census. Garden City is named after George Washington's home of Mount Vernon in Virginia. The first humans arrived in what is now Garden City about 12,000 years ago. At one time there were more than 100 villages in lower Snake River Valley, but most died out during invasions by other Native American groups over the course of centuries. In 1875, when Oregon became a U.S. state and Garden City was included within its boundaries, initial plans for the town were drawn up by John Wesley Powell as part of his exploration of new areas near Boise as part of his Geological Survey work for Congress under President Ulysses S. Grant. In spite of this early history and promise, it took until 1907 for Garden City to become a reality when developers bought land along the eastern bank of the Snake River from ranchers and settled it with agricultural laborers from elsewhere in Idaho Territory who had been brought over as labor on various railroad projects throughout that year-long period including construction ofCB&Q Railroad's Keystone Route through central Idaho and adjacent Alberta Province Lloyd Copley operated an elevator company building located on Main Street which still stands today (now used as apartments) while payroll processing services were provided by WPA contractor United States Steel Corporation until 1941 when those services were moved into local Waco Company headquarters until that plant closed also in 1941-. Construction began on what would eventually become downtown Garden City on May 10th 1907 with architect William Burtel designing a row upon row of three-story wooden frame buildings with German Expressionist design features such as tall spindles at each intersection providing added character overall.. There was no water available so Aqua-Pak was trucked into town from Boise every day to provide potable water for residents well into World War II although later city officials said that Aqua-Pak actually came direct from Superfund sites near Spokane.. civic boosterism aside however many people continued living inside their individual homes until 1948 when then Mayor A H Smith decided that downtown should be developed into an attractive commercial district including movie theaters,, restaurants,,and nightlife etc which led to streets being renamed "Downtown" Streets like Market Place Boulevard etc., hotels opened up such as Hilton Hotel & Casino where IMAX movies could be seen nightly starting in 1951 or even earlier while shopping malls started popping up all around town like Towne Center Mall etc., major league baseball teams relocated here such as Seattle Mariners (1951), Denver Broncos (1971), Portland Trail Blazers (1987)), Kansas City Royals (1996)), St Louis Cardinals (2011)). Downtown now has several blocks deep walkways lined with large shops,,restaurants,,barshells,,etc., main thoroughfare occurring between 5th Avenue South/Main Street East(now Pershing Square)Side Streets Broadway/Oregon Avenue North/Market Place Boulevard West

Garden City was founded in 1907 by Alfred E. Smith as a small town on the edge of the Snake River Plain. In 1937, Smith donated land to create what is now the Hollywood Bowl; Garden City became one of the first cities in America to host a major music festival. The bowl has been home to many famous concerts and events over the years, including Rolling Stones concerts in 1975 and 2006, Janet Jackson’s Britney Spears performance in 2002, and Michael Jackson’s Dangerous tour in 2003. Garden City also played an important role during World War II. The city was home to several military bases and served as a vital transportation hub for troops moving between battlefields around the world. After the war ended, Garden City slowly started to decline until it effectively disappeared as an urban center during the 1950s and 1960s. However, following its resurgence during the 1990s and 2000s, Garden City has again come into prominence as a vibrant community with strong cultural roots that continues to thrive today.
The Garden City area was located in the southeastern corner of Idaho, adjacent to the Wyoming and Colorado borders. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Garden City were fur traders who discovered the area during their trip through central America in 1847. In 1865, a group of farmers from Eastern Washington founded the town on land that had been purchased by Major General Lew Wallace from the Cheyenne and Arapaho Indians. The first post office was established in 1865, and the name was changed to Garden City in 1907. Garden City's growth began slowly but steadily over time. In 1870, it had only 10 residents; by 1880, it had over 100. By 1912, it had over 200 residents. The town reached its peak population size around 1925-1927 when it had over 300 residents. However, due to World War II and other factors such as a decrease in agricultural production in eastern Idaho, Garden City decreased in population until It reached its current level of about 100 residents by 2000.
