With access to Cheney's resources and connections within government circles (), Mountain Home quickly redeveloped into one of Eastern Idaho's leading towns – an important player both politically and economically within the community during much of its past decade (). Today little remains outsideOfTheRural setting that made Mountainhome so unique; only some remnant earthworks remain from where once many homes stood or are still visible today as part of various agricultural uses or hiking/skywatching opportunities.. But even these have opened up new discoveries as well: recent excavations have revealed evidence that Native Americans occupied this area long before any Europeans did., making mountain home one of archaeology's earliest documented sites!
