The first hotel in Mountain Home was built by Mr. Wm Ewing and his family in 1892. In 1907, the first gas station opened in Mountain Home and continues to serve as a local landmark today. In 1959-1960, two miles east of downtown were built four high school campuses: Alpine High School (now known as Churchill High School), East Valley High School (now known as McComas Valley High School), North Central High School (now known as Southcentral Community College) and West Valley High School (now known as Western Wyoming Valley HS). These schools are now defunct but their buildings still stand within walking distance of each other across an open space that once housed both schools together; this area is now called Second Avenue Elementary/Middle Schools Campus.
