Beach Park is a small town located in the northwest corner of Cook County, Illinois. The population was 9,865 at the 2010 census. Beach Park's history can be traced back to 1871 when it was founded as a post office and lumberyard by brothers Isaac and Jacob Beal. In 1907, the town was named in honor of General John J. Pershing who had fought in World War I. In 1922, Beach Park became an incorporated village and retains its name today. The first ammunition store in Beach Park opened its doors on Main Street in 1907. It was run by brothers Isaac and Jacob Beal and their father Amos Beal until he died in 1923. Ammunition sales continued to grow throughout the years and by 1935 there were twelve stores operating within Beach Park limits. By 1945, ammunition sales had reached $2 million a year! In 1957, Koppers Ammo Company joined forces with Evershot Ammunition Company to form Koppers-Evershot Ammunition Corporation which would remain operational until 1984 when it merged with Brownells Incorporated to form Brownell-Koppers Incorporated. The company sold firearms through more than two thousand stores across North America before being bought out by Remington Arms Co., Inc., one of the largest ammo companies in the world, in 1998. Today, Brownells rounds are produced both for personal use and commercial purposes all over the United States including Canada and Mexico City!

Beach Park is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,055 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is bordered by the villages of Palatine to the south and West Side to the east. The village of Beach Park was organized as a town on April 6, 1892, from portions of Palatine and West Side. Beach Park's first Mayor was John H. Kappler. The first post office in Beach Park was established in 1893. In 1902, Beach Park incorporated as a city with a population of 3,500 people. On October 15, 1923, Beach Park became an independent city again following a referendum vote by its citizens. On February 22nd, 1936 it merged with neighboring village of Palatine to form the new City of Chicago; this merger resulted in involuntary annexation by Cook County which had been seeking such action since 1912 when it annexed two adjacent towns - Beacheside and Midway - forming what would become known as "the Great Lakes Region". On May 1st 1957 the City Council passed Resolution No.(3) approving plans for redevelopment that were being prepared for then-Mayor Richard J Daley's home at 1111 Wabash Avenue; these plans called for demolition of most or all of Beach Park's downtown buildings including both their original Town Hall Annex building (now known as 207 N Milwaukee Ave.), American Legion Hall Annex (now known as 14 E Michigan Ave.), Ponce de Leon Auditorium Annex (now known as 9 W Washington St.), First Congregational Church Annex (now known as 81 S Dearborn St.), and Post Office Annex Building (now known as 8 N Wells). This plan also included construction of what would now be considered the core business district around Wabash Avenue with businesses such as Sears Roebuck & Co., IBM Corporation Headquarters Building/Research Laboratory complex/warehouse/factory on one side facing Wabash Avenue and Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company headquarters complex on another side facing Wells Street; this district would later come to be called "the Loop" after nearby Lake Shore Drive which bisected it along its entire length! In 1975–1976 changes were made to zoning regulations which allowed for more extensive commercial development within walking distance either north or south off Wabash Avenue between State Street and Wellesley Road with many high end retailers opening up shop there including Bed Bath & Beyond®, Neiman Marcus®, Macy’s Department Store®, Kohl’s Stores Incorporated®, Belk Stores Incorporated(), Sears Holding Corporporated(), JCPenney®/, Apple Incorporation (), Bloomingdale’s Department Store(!), Federated Jewelers Corporation()/. Many famous local restaurateurs like Morton Solow opened up shop here too including Salvatore Ferragamo who started his company here in 1947(*), Al Capone who had his base here from 1925 until his arrest in 1931 (*), Eddie Cantor who started his own theater here in 1922*, Joe Mantegna (*), Sammy Davis Jr.* (*), Louis Armstrong*. By 1980 over half a million people lived within walking distance OFWAKA AVE.; however due primarily to suburban encroachment *much*of that commercial development has now been relocated away from Downtown Chicago* *. Today much less significant shopping districts are located near other arterial streets such Asha Terrace Boulevard () or Pulaski Road ().
The Beach Park community was developed in the early 1880s on a peninsula extending into the Illinois River. At its height, the community had over 1,000 residents. The community was first named for Dr. George Washington Beach and his wife, Rebecca. The name was changed to Beach Park in 1887 after Dr. Harry J. Webb purchased land in the area from John Ladd and others.
