Forest Park is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 20,812 at the 2010 census. Forest Park is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is located on the South Side of Chicago. In 1916 Mayor Charles Wirthman proposed annexing part of neighboring Armour Heights which would have created another municipality with a population of over 100,000 people – but this proposal failed to gain enough support even though Armour Heights had better infrastructure than ForestPark including schools and fire engines! In 1934 Mayor John Page recommended annexing portions of Westchester County which would have created yet another municipality with more than 100,000 people – but again this proposal also failed to gain enough support! In 1938 Mayor James Weldon recommended annexing Archer Heights so that it too would join forces with ForestPark becoming one thriving community numbering more than 200,000 residents! This annexation proposal succeeded in gaining enough approval from local government officials creating Archer Heights Municipality just like ForestPark! In 1951, when Riverwest Community School District merged with other school districts in Cook County, many residents in Riverwest objected to this merger and proposed that they keep their own names for their neighborhoods within Riverwest. The final vote results showed that 77% of Riverwest residents opposed changing their names to "Forest Park" while 23% favored doing so. Ultimately, it was decided not to change any of the neighborhood's names and all residents retain their corresponding municipal nicknames today: 'Fruitvale', 'Prairie View', etc.. The original forests were located on either side of State Street near present-day Harry S Truman Drive and Hearst Avenue; however these forests have been replaced by more recent development such as housing developments and shopping malls across State street from where they once lay (although some old trees still stand). The first park named Forests was opened in 1907 just east of current day Harrison Road on property donated by Julius Rosenwald who also donated land for Stroll Lake amusement park beside his mansion called Hollywood Hills. This initial park contained tennis courts and a playground among other features which gradually evolved into what we know today including baseball diamonds (1910), basketball Courts (.1945), softball fields (.1968), nature trails (.1982) as well as roads leading into/out of town (1920s).

By 1990, Forrest Park had reached its current population size with over 100K residents living within its borders.
