Lockport, Illinois is a city located in the northeastern corner of the U.S. state of Illinois and is the county seat of Kane County. The population was 73,811 at the 2010 census. The area now known as Lockport was first settled by Potawatomi Indians in 1795. The town was founded on April 12, 1853, when railroad developers made an agreement to build a line from Carbondale to Chicago through Lockport and other towns along its route. In 1879, the Chicago and Northwestern Railway built a branch from Carbondale to Lockport and began operations there on November 25th of that year. At this time, Lockport had a population of around 20 people and was served by two stores and one post office. By 1938, however, the town had grown rapidly with over 100 residents including a Wawa restaurant which became one of the most popular tourist destinations in town during that time period due to its views of Lake Michigan and downtown Chicago skyline from its rooftop bar/lounge). In 1951-1954, during World War II hysteria surrounding German refugees fleeing into America prior to American entry into war (see१), lockports growth continued with businesses such as Wawa opening up shop among others in what would become known as "The resettlement era". Since then however Lockport has experienced consistent growth despite many challenges faced such as several natural disasters which have caused extensive damage including Near Eastern terrorism related crime(s) incidents occurring here primarily since 2007 after the facility used by DuPage County government services housed therein suffered significant damage resulting in over $200 million worth of losses); high unemployment rates impacting both employed & unemployed individuals; recent annexations / incorporations / changes made thereto within Kane County - all while remaining economically competitive relative to similar cities throughout America; increasing number & diversity of professional & amateur athletes residing herein; etc.; helping make it one of Northern Illinois' most vibrant economic regions

Kendall purchased land near present-day Higgins Road and began building a house which would become known as Kendall's House. In 1819, Stephenson & Company became Wabash Navigation Co., Ltd., which built several wharves along our current waterfront including ones that still stand today (the Quincy Wharf has been destroyed). This company played an important role in helping start World War I by providing munitions necessary for battle sites around Europe. In 1925, Wabash Navigation Co., Ltd., merged with Chicago-based Peregrine Paper Corporation to form American Paper Company (APC). APC soon became one of America's leading paper companies with its headquarters located at 601 E Superior Ave. After years of growth and acquisition Paul Revere Elementary School was Constructed between 1951-1958 replacing an old schoolhouse that burned down in 1934 after being abandoned for many years!
