He also served as president pro tempore from 1951-1957 and 1943-1948 during the time that City Hall wasn’t actually used because Mayor Daley held executive offices at various other agencies inside Chicagoland government instead The current mayor is Rahm Emanuel who assumed office on January 1st 2014
