Mount Vernon, Illinois is a small town in Kane County, Illinois, United States. It was founded by Daniel Boone in 1788. The town was named after Mount Vernon, Virginia. By 1860, however, tensions between African Americans and whites were increasing throughout Illinois due to discriminatory practices by state officials. Many residents of Mount Vernon decided to move away from racism during this time period; some relocated permanently while others moved only temporarily until new housing developments could be built near their old homes. During these years few events occurred which would lead to significant change or improve life for black residents of Illinois; instead most changes took place outside of Mount Vernon itself (e.g., through initiatives spearheaded by abolitionists). In 1865 Union troops burned down much of downtown Mtvern after raiding local stores; this event marked one of the earliest examples of mob violence against civilians in America[1] and increased tension between races across southeastern Illinois.[2] This simmering anger eventually led to open violence against African Americans throughout the Midwest during Reconstruction Era; this culminated with passage of The Civil Rights Act OF 1964 which outlawed discrimination on accountof race nationwide. Today many black Mtvernians continue to struggle economically while also maintaining close social ties with their white counterparts; these communities have long been known for their entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship culture[3]. Despite these challenges,Mount Vernon has continued To serve as anhub for commerce within Mclean County as well as being an important cultural center for its surrounding area – both inside and outside of Mtvern – striving always towards improvement

Mount Vernon was founded in 1795 by George Washington and his wife, Martha. The plantation was named in honor of Mount Vernon, the most northerly point on the U.S. mainland. The original Mount Vernon mansion had six rooms and a library with more than 2,500 volumes when it was completed in 1795. She bequeathed her portion of the estate to her son-in-law, John Quincy Adams, who made it into a national public park after becoming president of the United States in 1825. Adams also built many other structures on or around the estate including a chapel (1830), an ice cream factory (1860), and an opera house (1910). Most of these structures have been demolished since they were built; however, the chapel still stands as one of America's earliest examples of Classical Revival architecture. In 1830, President James Kapp announced that Mount Vernon would become part of Chicago as part of its incorporation as a city limits community along with O'Hare Airport and other adjacent municipalities. However, Congress never ratified Kapp's plan because Chicago wasn't considered an official city within Illinois until 1893ah This lack of recognition helped keep Mount Vernon off balance for years while Chicago grew rapidly into one of America's largest cities during this period—a status it maintains to this day despite its distance from downtownChicago

The first U.S. Post Office on Mount Vernon was established in 1812. The Mount Vernon National Monument was designated in 1916 and includes the remains of George Washington, his family, and their staff.
