Warrenville is a small town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,751 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. Warrenville has been inhabited by humans since before they were written down in history. In 1804, French explorers discovered what would become Warrenville when traveling through present-day Mclean County on their way to explore the new Louisiana Territory. At that time, the river flowing through Warrenville was known as the Kaskaskia River. The first Europeans to live in this area were French fur traders and missionaries who established trading posts near present-day Belleville and Carbondale in 1825 and 1830 respectively. By 1840, there were 7 European settlers living in Warrenville; 2 Germans and 5 Irishmen. In 1847, James Auld founded the Auld Brewery here which became one of the largest breweries west of the Mississippi River. The brewery produced whiskey for sale throughout Illinois until Prohibition began in 1920). In 1861, John Dickey founded Dickey's Lumber Yard here which manufactured lumber for various buildings and roads throughout his home state of Missouri (later Kentucky). In 1865, Marcus Daly established a cotton gin here which became one of America's leading gins during its early stages of development (the first gin in America was built by Nicholas Johnson at Quincy Market in 1795). From 1865 until 1899 it was also one of two mills operated by Wm Hogg & Sons Paper Merchants Limited at Quincy Market on Dearborn Street between State and Federal Streets.) On July 14th 1898 Samuel Colt organized a company called "Samuel Colt Arms Company" with $1 million capitalization to produce revolvers under exclusive contract with Her Majesty's British Secret Service for use within Her Majesty's forces within her Dominion or any other Dominion where such service might be required (this company later became famous as Browning Firearms Manufacturing Corporation.). During World War I Ammunition production increased dramatically due to wartime demand from both belligerents (USA vs Germany) In 1922 Armoury Department developed regulations for controlled ammunition handling that remain unchanged today

Warrenville is located in DuPage County, Illinois. The first ammunition store in the area was established in 1856 by Major John P. Hickey and his brother-in-law Dr. James Fenton. Ammunition production began in the early 1800s in the area and continued until about 1865 when it stopped due to a lack of natural resources. In 1881, a new ammunition factory was built in Warrenville and produced machine guns, artillery projectiles, and other munitions. In 1915, the United States military arsenal at Warrenville was closed down due to World War I and most of its equipment was sold off to other countries. However, some of the older armaments still remain at Warrenville including five cannons that were used during World War II as part of the American Expeditionary Forces’ artillery unit known as Battery A (3rd Artillery Regiment).

The name "Warrenville" comes from Warrensburg, Kentucky, the original home of General James K. Polk and his family in 1847. The first settler in what is now Warrenville was Levi Coffin who arrived on July 1, 1824. He married Eliza Aiken and had two children: Levi Coffin and Louisa Aiken Coffin (1830-1901). In 1830 two more settlers were also arrivals; Ebenezer Burr and Isaac Newcomb who settling down near where the Chicago & Eastern Railway later crossed the river near present day Elm Street. This area then became known as Burr Township which remained until it was annexed by Warrenville in 1881 when that city's boundaries expanded to include all ofDuPage County east of Rockford Road/State Route 51/. After annexation most residents moved away to create new townships like Elmhurst or Schaumburg within their former township borders such as Crystal Lake outside of Crystal Lake Township limits while some residents decided to remain behind including Ebenezer Burr himself who continues to live there today with his daughter Malachiina Burr (born 1958) On January 17th, 1861 when Illinois entered into its official constitution a new township called West Dundee was established seven miles west of downtown Chicago along State Route 471 which included much of what is now downtown Warrenville including parts of what are now Park Ridge and Riverdale neighborhoods as well as current day North Avenue just south of I-94 exit 56A on the north side adjoining village limits belonging to Arlington Heights . On February 14th following ratification by both municipalities this new township changed its name to "Warrenville" after General James K. Polk who died August 29th 1847 at age 79 years old while serving as President of the United States under Andrew Johnson In 1880 during one year a total population growth rate for Du Page County Of 12% resulted in 3 families moving into unincorporated areas making it possible for a single municipality - Warrenville - To encompass an entire county In 1902 when Village limit expansions were approved by both Cook County Board And Chatham Township board expanding their respective jurisdictions over portions lying east and west OF I-294 made it necessary for another name change becoming "North Aurora" due to confusion caused by similarly named villages located several miles away from either our town or those aforementioned villages namesakes . On September 28th 1907 North Aurora changed its name back again becoming "Warrenville" upon approval by both boards followingOrganizations Name Changes Act Of 1906

Warrenville was founded in 1834 by the Monroe family. The town was named after George Washington, and it grew quickly due to its location at the junction of two important rivers. In 1856, Warrenville became the county seat of DuPage County. In 1893, Warrenville was renamed in honor of Robert H. Kellett, who had served as mayor from 1889 to 1890 and as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives from 1886 to 1888.
