Warrenville, Illinois was founded in 1868 by German immigrants. The city became known for its shooting range and gun manufacturers. In the late 1800s, the city developed into a manufacturing center for firearms. The industry grew to become one of Warrenville's largest employers. Gun manufacturers produced handguns, rifles, shotguns, and other firearms. Many of these companies still operate in Warrenville today. Shooting Target Holders History in Warrenville began with two men; George Weiland and Hermann Kuttner who operated a pistol shop on State Street in town square. Their business served as an early training ground for young shooters from all over the area. From there they branched out into making target holders which were used at local fairs and festivals to help teach youngsters how to shoot accurately. Later on they started producing their own targets which helped promote goodshootin skills among adults as well! In 1903, Hennepin Industries moved their production facilities from Minneapolis to Warrenville so they could control the market for their target products nationwide. At this time target holders became popular due to their simple design and ease of use. Over time many different company names were adopted but eventually Hennepin Industries again took over production operations in 1948 when it merged with Remington Arms Company (later Ricker-Hennepin). Today, most target holders are produced within Ricker-Hennepin's parent company – Smith & Wesson – though some are made by other companies outside of Smith & Wesson's product line including those made by Glock Corporation subsidiary Dannevold Firearms Manufacturing Incorporated (DFM). Warrenville, Illinois first created a shooting target holder in 1892. The company name was "The Warrenvilians Target and shot putting Company." It operated from a small store on the corner of Market and South streets. In 1907, the company moved to its present location on West Addison Street.
Warrenville is a small town in Cook County, Illinois. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village of Warrenville was incorporated on February 14, 1868 and became a city on November 3, 1898. On December 12, 1949, it merged with the neighboring towns of Chesterfield and Glenview to form the new city of Warrenville. The merger was approved by the Illinois General Assembly and took effect on January 1, 1950. The rich agricultural history that has shaped Warrenville began with early settlers who arrived in 1812 when Congress granted land to James Kapp and others in what is now Cook County. In 1827 John Stephenson purchased 640 acres (253 hectares) of this same land from Kapp for $1 per acre ($6 per hectare). This land would later become known as the Stephenson Farms tract which lay just outside present-day Warrenville. In 1870 Wm. Hanks opened his general store near what is now River Road and Western Avenue in what is today downtown Warrenville along with his son William Hanks Jr., also known as “The Giant” because he weighed over 350 pounds (150 kilograms). From this store many items were sold including flour, beans and other foodstuffs; shoes; saddles; buggy parts; tools and hardware; cigars; cigarettes; whiskey whisky & beer! A post office was established at this location on September 16, 1870 under the name “Hank’s Store” after Wm. Hanks Sr., who operated it until his death in 1899. In 1898-99 two large coal plants were built in nearby Chesterfield by American Coal Company (ACO) which generated so much heat that they needed to install an ice machine! With these new developments came new businesses such as groceries stores (such as Mrs prohibitions grocery), dance halls/entertainment venues such as Joe’s Piano Rooms & Dance Hall or Mrs Ostrovsky’s Opera House & Ballroom where plays were staged nightly during prohibition period until 1933 when alcohol became legal again throughout most of America! This boom time forWarrenvillians stopped around 1907 when a little-known company called Phelps Dodge decided to end their operations there due to high energy costs associated with running two large power plants using natural gas rather than coal!!! After years of planning Phelps Dodge never actually built their plant(s) but instead leased them back from ACO who continued using them until 1988!! Streets named after famous citizens like Andrew Carnegie or Nikola Tesla had been plated out throughout downtown Warrenvilie for cars only beginning about 1925…..but then people started parking their cars right next door on Front Street !! All those street names….and no one ever bothered changing them back after all these years ??? A few more local businesses followed before Harold Bechtel bought ACO’s assets in 1958 resulting in another big business change called diversification!!! Many companies moved into downtown Warrenvilie including Wabash Cannon Foundry Inc.; Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.; United Parcel Service Inc.; Sears Roebuck & Co.; National Broadcasting Corporation;; US Steel Corp;; Delta Air Lines;; Mattress Firm;; Pizza Hut;; Dairy Queen;; numerous other small businesses………Warrenvilie quickly became one of America′s most vibrant cities full of life…………………..Today there are still quite a few oldies but goodies left behind like Mrs Prohibitions Pharmacy which continues unchanged since her days when drugs were illegal here too!!!!
The first target holders were made in 1892 by the American gunshot manufacturer, Winchester. The design was based on a rifle stock with a dovetail fitting for attachment of a shooting scope. These shooters would use rifles with their off hand to hold onto the stocks of their targets and shoot them. It wasn’t until 1906 that someone invented the modern target holder which incorporated an adjustable bipod into the design. By 1912, they had also created two types of target holders- one with a traditional dovetail attaching bracket and another type that used a metal post to attach to the top rail of a rifle barrel. As technology changed, so too did the target holders- from 1916 onwards, they started using metal plated versions which offered better durability and easier assembly. In 1934, Winchester introduced its own version of theTarget Holder which became known as the Model 350D. This model featured improved construction including an adjustable bipod and overall length of measurement from base to end was now 2 3/4 inches instead of 1 inch as before. From 1935 onwards, Target Holders were produced by other manufacturers such as Beretta and Smith & Wesson among others

Warrenville is a small town in Champaign County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Urbana–Champaign Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was named for General John A. Warren, who fought in the American Civil War and later became a U.S. senator from Illinois. In 1853, Wm Denton founded the first store in Warrenville and it remained the primary business until about 1870 when ice cream became popular in summertime and merchants started selling groceries instead of just ice cream. By 1907, there were five stores in town with a total population of 1786 people; today there are only three remaining businesses that have any commercial activity outside of services such as catering and retailing: The Warrenvilian Creamery & Bakery (closed 2013), J&J's Pizza (closed 2018), and Hometown Buffet (closed 2019). In 1922, Dr. John Pritzker established one of the first medical clinics in Champaign County when he opened his office on Main Street;today it remains one of the largest healthcare providers located outside Chicago or Springfield IL In 1924 Dr James Cheshire purchased land east of town on Washington Street for what would become called Cheshire Hospital which would serve as Champaign County's first government hospital In 1928-29 Mayor Edward J Fenton erected a two story brick school building on Main Street which served as both Town Hall and Post Office
Warrenville was founded in 1812 by Colonel John Warren and his family. The town became a center for agricultural production, as well as being home to a number of businesses and institutions. In the late 1800s, the town developed into a major manufacturing center, with heavy reliance on agriculture. However, during the Great Depression, Warrenville experienced significant decline in both its economy and population. Today, the town is largely abandoned, with few residents remaining in the area.
