In addition to farming, Anna LaFayette Cobb also ran a small grocery store in Woodridge for many years before it closed its doors in 1978. After World War II ended, much of Woodbridge's economy shifted towards manufacturing due to increased trade with neighboring states during that time period. One such industry that thrived in Woodbridge during this time was printing press production which began booming around 1907 when America first started producing magazines using presses made from wood pulpstocks imported from Great Britain. In 1865, Isaac French open up an agricultural business here which would grow into one of Illinois' largest landholders and operator of poultry farms throughout the state For many years French served as mayor of Woodbridge before his death in 1921. In 1889, Jens Jensen opened up his own grocery store in what is nowOld Town Square and continued to operate it until he sold it to Julius Rosenwald Jr.. Rosenwald had come to Chicago from Denmark in 1888 with his uncle Morris Rosenwald to found Sears Roebuck & Co., America's largest department store chain When Rosenwald died in 1929 his son Julius Jr. took over operation but soon discontinued operations due to poor health In 1945 Rheinhardt Paper Company merged with American Paper Products forming American Paper Corp which still operates out their current location today

The population peaked at around 3,500 in 1910 but began declining shortly afterwards due to various factors such as World War I and then-industrialization. By 1970, the population had decreased below 1,000 again. However, since then there has been a recent uptick in development with new businesses opening up along with more people moving into the town.
