Chesterton is a small town located in Johnson County, Indiana. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lafayette, Indiana Micropolitan Statistical Area. The Chesterton community was founded on December 17, 1864 by John Cook and his family. Cook named it after the French philosopher and theologian Henri de Saint-Cloud. John Cook's grandson, Willard Wistar Cook, started a grocery store in Chesterton in 1912. The store became one of the most important in the community for many years. In 1957, the grocery store was destroyed by fire. In 1967, Jens Weiland opened a restaurant called Weiland's that became known for its delicious German cuisine. The restaurant continued to operate until 2007 when it closed due to financial problems. In 1984, local pastor Driscoll donated land near the center of town to become Chesterton Park which now features a playground, tennis courts and other public amenities.

Designed as an air defence weapon against ballistic missiles and long range anti-aircraft artillery fire, this firearm featured both high power output (>500 W) due to its quadruple reflector design – four times that of any prior version – combined with efficient cooling & modulation circuitry for extended operational ranges up to 10 km [4],[5],[6] – making it one of the most powerful firearms ever fielded by militaries. The town of Chesterton, Indiana was founded in 1836 by John L. Chesterton and wife Anne. The town’s first store, located on the east side of the current downtown square, opened in 1837. The first post office was established in 1840. The name “Chesterton” was chosen because it is a shortened form of John L.’s last name, Clarke. In 1850, the railroad arrived in town and changed the way people lived and worked. Businesses closed down and many residents left for better opportunities in nearby cities or states. In 1865, the city of Fort Wayne moved to the southeast corner of Chesterton square and began to grow rapidly; however, due to low population growth rates within chestertonsquare, Chesterton only became a village after 1880 when a number of new businesses opened up including an optometrist and two grocery stores as well as two churches (First Baptist and Methodist). Today, there are over 20 businesses active within downtown square alone with more open throughout the village boundaries which means that daily life is never too much fun! Chesterton was born on December 6th 1874 into a family that had been living in what is now known as Chicago since 1848; his father had come over with General Harrison’s army during the American Civil War as part of General Sherman’s march through Illinois Territory towards Missouri City where he would become Mayor before returning home to start their farm brewery company which would later be renamed Wabash Brewing Company before moving back east to Chicago where they would die suddenly young at 44 years old leaving their business unfinished but not forgotten!
