In 1924, the Crown Point Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in Crown Point, Indiana. It is the oldest rifle and pistol club in Indiana. In 1932, the club moved to its current location on State Street in Crown Point. The membership of the club has grown over time to include individuals from all over the state of Indiana. The club currently operates a range on property located behind their clubhouse which they use for target practice and other shooting activities.

Crown Point is a small town in the Union County of Indiana. The population was 1,341 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1821 by members of the Crown family. The town has a history that goes back to before Indian Removal and the end of slavery in America. The first settler in Crown Point was Samuel Crown, who arrived in 1821. He and his family were farmers and traders who traded with the Kickapoos and other Native Americans. In 1825, Samuel Crown purchased land east of present-day Crown Point from Pierre Lacroix for $200 ($ as of 2019). He named his new settlement after himself, Sir John crown (1768-1849), Baronetcy holder of Croydon Hall, one of three British aristocrats who had landed on American shores as part of Lord Cornwallis's army during the American Revolution. Crown Point grew quickly due to its location near water resources and its ability to trade with other parts of Indiana and Illinois. By 1830, it had developed into a small town with a population of around 100 people. By 1840, it had reached 500 people and by 1850 it numbered 2,000 residents. However, growth stopped soon after because there were few opportunities for farming or trading outside the small townspeople themselves. However, things changed when Henry Ford came to Crown Point in 1916 as an employee at Wabash Railroad Company’s (later CSX) Kingfisher Yard north of town. Ford saw what could be done with some land south of town that hadn’t been used for years because there was still good soil left over from earlier settlements on this tract including Crownpoint dating back to 1795! After finding out about Crownpoint’s rich history he decided to invest in developing this parcel into what would become Ford Heights today! Ford Heights today began as just a few homes on acreage facing northeast which became known as Park Avenue following World War II when General Motors moved their plants here from Flint Michigan while production remained at Detroit until 1953 when they closed down their plant and all jobs went away!
