Kendallville is a small town in Harrison County,Indiana. It is located on the east side of the state, about 15 miles southwest of Indianapolis. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. The first settlers in Kendallville were Methodist missionaries from Kentucky who arrived in 1814. They built a log cabin and named it “Blossom Hill” after their home state of Kentucky. The town started off as a rural farming community with few buildings other then homes and barns. However, over time Kendallville became an important commercial center for the area with its several banks and stores. In 1868, the first post office was established in Kendallville and it continued to serve until it closed in 1907. In 1916, Kendallville experienced its first racial unrest when white residents decided to start a segregated school system within the community. This led to violence between whites and African Americans that lasted for several weeks. By 1920, most of the businesses had closed down due to lack of customers or competition from neighboring towns that had integrated into Indiana's new social order following World War I. However, some businesses such as Ladd's Hardware continued to operate until they closed in 1951 due to consolidation among local retailers across Indiana Kendallville has seen many changes during its history including growth in agriculture since Prohibition ended; steady population decline during World War II; increased suburbanization throughout much of Harrison County which has led to more jobs moving away from Kendallville; and recent revitalization efforts spearheaded by Mayor Tom Ratcliffe which have included increasing economic development opportunities for the town as well as creating new cultural attractions like an amphitheater and art museum . KendallVILLE has always been an important part of Indiana's history but it is also one which faces many challenges today including difficulty adapting to changing demographics; low median household income; limited available housing options outside of populated areas; and significant stresses caused by climate change .

Kendallville is a small town in Putnam County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,834 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville metropolitan area. The first people to live in Kendallville were the Kincaids and their families who arrived from Maryland around 1810. They built a log cabin on the east side of the river about two miles upriver from where present day Kendallville stands. In 1831, Chancellor John Swayne purchased 3 acres (1 km²) of land on the west bank of White River for $200 cash and named it Kendallvillette after his older sister's husband Joseph Kendall. After Chancellor Swayne died in 1836, his widow donated 2 more acres (0.8 km²) to the village for use as a public square and schoolhouse. After Chancellor Swayne's death, his wife Sarah subdivided their remaining land into 36 lots and sold them to various individuals and groups over the next several years until they had all bought or leased land within what we now know as Kendallvillletee limits today. In 1842, David Starr moved with his family from Kentucky to this area and began growing corn on some of that early property which he then traded with local farmers for goods they needed or wanted. He became very successful in this business and by 1850 had constructed a large frame house on what is now Main Street near where Wabash Road meets US-26 today. In 1865 David Starr married Lucille Ketchum (1828-1912), daughter of James Ketchum Sr., one of President Abraham Lincoln's advisors during his time at Northwestern University (1846-1865). They raised six children here: Edwin Starr born 1865; Franklin Dixie born 1870; Julia Emma born 1875; Clara Lee born 1880; Everett Hanks 1880-1948; George Washington 1889-1900). All but one son survived into adulthood except Everett Hanks who died young at age 28 while serving in World War II as an Army Air Forces bombardier/ Gunner’s Mate with TBM Avenger torpedo bombers squadron 8th Bombardment Group based at Midway Island Naval Air Station Hawaii 1943-1945 (see below). During World War II, David Starr worked many odd jobs such as driving lorry’s throughout America picking up supplies for troops stationed overseas then returning home to drop off our cargo at our house across White River before traveling back out again later that night; he also collected stories along the way! When he lost interest in farming & started trading goods instead I think its safe to say you could say “the end” was near when david starr met lucille ketchum David Starr passed away in 1950 aged 85 leaving behind 6 kids including my grandmother Esther Murtaugh who lived another 59 years until she too passed away in 1984 having lived most her life inside our home which we still call home today despite recently moving out onto private property 5 miles south west of Kendallville!
