There are many firearms enthusiasts in Bettendorf, Iowa who have a love for the shooting hobby. The city is home to the Bettendorf Rifle and Pistol Club, which has been in operation since 1892. In 1919, the club built its first clubhouse on Fourth Street. It was located on what is now the corner of First and Second Streets. The club also played host to the first annual World Gun Show at the nearby Des Moines fairgrounds in 1929. In 1934, Bettendorf became home to its own police department. This was followed by a fire department in 1941. In 1949, Bettendorf had its first post office and within five years it had six businesses including two grocery stores and a movie theater as well as a variety of other services such as plumbing, car rentals, dry cleaning and banking. Bettendorf, Iowa is a town in Butler County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,567 at the 2010 census. Bettendorf is the county seat of Butler County. The first settler in Bettendorf was Jacob Hecker in 1847. In 1871, John Prentice founded the city of Bettendorf and by 1881 it had a population of 599. This growth slowed as agriculture became more important to the economy and power plant development took precedence over new housing developments. However, by 1945 there were 1,814 people living in Bettendorf with a total income of $38 million. The most recent Census estimate for the population is 1,744 which shows an increase from the 2010 census of 1,512 (+4%). Bettendorf was incorporated as a town on December 3rd, 1912 by an act of the state legislature. It ratifies ordinances passed by its citizens before that date setting forth its governmental structure and procedures for municipal government including elections and judicial review thereof; however it does not have any jurisdiction over unincorporated areas outside its borders (the "Reserve"). The name "Bettendorf" comes from Dutch settlers who called this area Bensenrodt after early farmers foundered ashore here during springtime navigation efforts upriver. On July 6th 1965 when tornado EF-3 touched down near downtown Ottumwa & destroyed entire blocks of homes east & west between State streets/Highways 20 & 22nd Avenue ended up being what we now call the Petticoat Triangle due to loss of life/injuries within that area that day many young families were lost their fathers worked on farms across IOWA homebuilders frantically went looking for houses to build before their neighborhoods got leveled also prior to that we could see all these damage reports coming in they started telling us about windows blown out doors open so you couldn't get into your properties so they know pretty much where everything was

However, despite its size there are many features unique to Cedar Rapids that set it apart from other towns throughout the state: its downtown is home to several large cultural venues (including Art Institute of Chicago), its riverfront park offers excellent views of both Lake Erie and downtown Minneapolis/St Paul Airport, and its diverse neighborhoods offer plenty of shopping opportunities as well as local history museums dating back to when Cedar Rapids was an agricultural community

Bettendorf was founded in 1849 by a group of men from Iowa who were looking for a new home. The town became well known for its agricultural products, such as flour and cattle. Bettendorf also had a large foundry which produced coins and medals.
