Her parents were Johann Gottfried Kappe (born 1798), a tailor who worked for courtiers near Frankfurt am Main; his wife Carolina Schulz (1799-1868), daughter of Captain Christian Schulz (1775-1827), captain commanding an Infantry Regiment raised at Minden during the Seven Years' War; they had six children: Friedrich Wilhelm Kappe (1851-1907)), Anna Catharine Kappe Weiser (1854-1936)), Johann August Klinghoffer Kappe (1858-1935)) ; Elisabeth Klinghoffer Kappe (); Ernst August Klinghoffer Kappe (); Louisa Klinghoffer Fuhrmann (). Their descendants still live in Bettendorff today."
