One of the oldest shooting targets in El Dorado, Kansas is a large black and white target. It has been in the same family for generations and is now part of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) Museum collection. The target was manufactured by Fenton Manufacturing Company in 1881. Target holders are devices that were originally designed to hold targets for shooters to shoot at from long distances. El Dorado is a small town in eastern Kansas, United States. The population was 1,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1854 by Captain John Sibley and his family after they discovered gold in California's Sierra Nevada foothills. Sibley named the town for his find, hoping to attract miners to its rich deposits of gold ore that lay beneath the earth's surface. After Illinois senator James Buchanan won elections in 1856 and took office as president, he proposed a bill titled "An Act To Aid In The Expedition And Discovery Of Gold By Land In The Territory Of Kansas" which would have funded an expedition led by a U.S. Geological Survey member named George Armstrong Custer to explore El Dorado County and claim it for the United States. However, when Buchanan resigned on November 3, 1857, this bill died without any action being taken on it; Buchanan had been replaced by James Kossuth as president of the United States. In 1861, two years before Kansas became a state, prospectors from Missouri began searching for gold near what is now Wichita Falls in north-central Texas; one group met with success and named their new city after themselves—El Dorado ( Spanish for "the golden country"). With little interest from American citizens living east of the Mississippi River due to land claims made by Mexico during the Mexican–American War (1846-48), El Dorado failed to become a significant mining center until after World War II when new finds were made there adjacent to existing mines such as Glencore Copper Mines and Phelps Dodge Mining Company's Monterrey Complex operations within Wichita Falls limits bordering both El Dorado County and ghost towns like Hinsdale (site of present day Midway) located along abandoned trails leading into these vast silverfields lying below modern horizon high desert country commonly known today only as sagebrush flats or archaeological sites scattered among other recently platted areas within general area now visible on air surveys over open ranchland now used for housing developments irrigated with water brought piped in from flatlands north of Wichita Falls developed since 1945 by cities damned throughout history often called simply "utilities" or worse because located some distance from anything useful good worth looking at development did not begin until well into next century residents generally considered decent people who grew crops & raised chickens until oil come& destroyed everything

El Dorado, Kansas is a small town in Dodge County, Kansas, United States. The population was 1,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hutchinson, KS Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now El Dorado were white men from Ohio and Illinois who came through the Missouri River area in 1851. They named their new community after the Spanish city of Mexico City where they had been on an agricultural mission. In 1867, a group of Mormons from Hennepin County arrived and established a ranch there. The Mormons built a large Mormon temple on top of a hill in El Dorado and also founded two schools: one for boys and one for girls. In 1907, Prentice Eldredge donated land to build an federal penitentiary which served as the central prison for Dodge County until it closed in 1951. After that point, most crime fell victim to out-of-town criminals or rustlers who would break into neighboring counties to find newly acquired property for themselves. In 1974, when Wichita Falls became an official city within Dodge County (it had been part of Hutchinson since its incorporation as a village in 1903), El Dorado experienced rapid growth due to its location near Wichita Falls Airport and its dependence on tourism as a source of revenue. today's El Dorado area contains more than just Main Street; it also includes several smaller streets off of Main Street serving primarily residences rather than commercial activity or educational institutions such as high schools or universities
