The Hutchinson Arsenal was a munitions plant in Hutchinson, Kansas that was active from 1892 to 1951. The plant produced artillery shells, torpedoes, air-to-ground missiles, and other munitions. The arsenal was situated on the corner of State Street and Sioux Boulevard.
Hutchinson, Kansas is a small town located in the central part of the US state of Kansas. The population was 2,883 at the 2010 census. Hutchinson is one of four towns in Johnson County and is the county seat for that county. It lies east of Topeka on the banks of the Arkansas River. The first settlers in Hutchinson arrived from Ohio in 1819 and began to farm land around what is now downtown Hutchinson. The post office was established in 1829, and as a result, Hutchinson had its own newspaper before Topeka did. In 1881, Hutchison became a town when it merger with two other townships - Quitman and Newton - to form Johnson County. Today, Hutchison's economy relies largely on agriculture which includes raising livestock, manufacturing items such as cheese and flour products, and providing services such as public health care and government support functions. Industries that have contributed to Hutchinson include information technology (information technology companies), education (including several private schools), healthcare (the city has an extensive hospital system), transportation (the town has a robust airport system), mining (thetown has one of the largest coal mines in Kansas) and manufacturing (a number of local businesses produce food products). The community's history can be found inscribed on several buildings including the original courthouse which was built between 1882-1885 by Isham Sowell II after he donated $5,000 to build it. This courthouse still stands today within walking distance of downtown Wichita despite being battered by weather over time; however much damage has been done to it from vandals over time including leaving anti-Semitic graffiti inside its doors throughout recent years!

In the 1850s, Hutchinson was a thriving town in central Kansas. It had a train station and a large school district. But by the end of the century, Hutchinson had disappeared from the map. Its disappearances are part of one of history's most curious patterns - towns that decline at times during boom years often reappear in later decades as struggling communities that need help to stay afloat. Hutchinson is no different. It started out as a small farming community with several hundred residents. But by 1900, it had shrunk to just fifty-five people and its schools were failing. The town's only source of income came from sales of goods generated by local farmers. But even as Hutchinson declined, other towns in central Kansas were starting to experience same problems. Railroads brought new traffic and businesses to these towns, but also demanded more jobs for men and women than could be found at home. Businesses closed down and people lost their homes. They didn't have any other choice but to move away from their old homes and start over again in another town or village nearby. This pattern has continued throughout history - when there is an economic boom, many small towns like Hutchinson become struggling cities/towns that need help to stay afloat
Hutchinson County was organized in 1867. The county seat was Hutchinson. On November 3, 1881, the legislature of Kansas passed an act creating new counties in the area north of Wichita and east of Topeka. Hutchinson County was created and it received its name from Hiram Hutchinson, a congressman from that state who served from 1865 to 1871.
