During World War II, Hutchinson served as Headquarters for tactical air forces stationed along I-80 between Wichita and Topeka until 1943 when it moved to Topeka Airport near present day Interstate 70 east of town center while Main Street continued its route through downtown with new facilities built off US 71 north of town center which still serve as headquarters today

The town started off as a small farming community with only two schools and one grocery store; however, by 1860 it had grown to include 10 stores and more than 100 households. In 1865, three representatives from Kansas Territory were elected to Congress; one of these men, John Aiken (1820-1904), became known as the "Father ofKansas" because he helped create the statehood law that gave Kansas independence from Missouri on November 6th of that year. Aiken also played an important role in developing Wichita as one of America's largest cities; he purchased land there in 1872 and laid out streets that today form part of downtown Wichita. Today's version of Hutchison didn't exist until after Kansas Territory was created on November 16th 1861 when Lawrence County was split off from Riley County (the same day that Kanawha County was created). That November decision allowed for greater settlement within existing counties while still maintaining some degree of autonomy for those counties' leaders – something that Hutchison may have taken advantage of early on if it felt like things were going too smoothly for itself! One major reason why Hutchison may have taken so long to catch up to other communities is because transportation wasn't reallyexistent back then: until well into the 20th century goods had to be hauled either by boat or train along rivers or through stagesickness epidemics! Today's infrastructure makes distance travel much easier but doesn't account for all factors involved when deciding whether or not something should get built – especially when estimates suggest that investment will bring economic benefits over time!
